Disadvantages Disadvantages get a sore backside when riding over a couple of hrs, easy fix take a break

picked the2004 sv650 up 3 days ago, and oh my god what a bike, handles well, plenty of power, feels great. i rode up from petersfield near portsmouth all the way up to blackburn, a total of 273 and a bit miles, i loved every second of the ride back, even with the rain splashing down for the first hour. ive owned a kawasaki er5 for the last 2 years, ive been waiting for my 33bhp restriction to end and wow am i glad it has ended, the sv has just lifted me to new heights, her looks sound power are awsome and an easy ride to top it off, this is what bikings all about, i know its only been 3 days ... more

Advantages Advantages Very Torky, Great handling better looks

Disadvantages Disadvantages Honest truth I have yet to find one

Trudging thorugh paper after paper and visiting more online sites than I knew exsisted in 2008 after just passing my motorbike test and there it was.... The Suzuki SV650s! A super bike styled easy to manage middle weight bike. Perfect for novices and nutters alike. Being classed as a "Sports Tourer" it is set up for a whole range of riding needs be it the 10 mile round trip to the office, a blast to 1066 country on a sunny afternoon or even a leisurely trek down to the south of france. From my point of view - Aggresive sportsbike image yet a comfertable riding position, low insurance and easy ... more

Advantages Advantages Light, economical, easy to ride and fun. Comfortable too.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Sound with standard can! Niggly quality issues..

After my Z750 was written off (not pleased!) I had to find a replacement bike. I eventually decided to get an SV650s. I plumped for a used 2000 model "curvy" SV (as pictured) I'll sum it up pretty easily for you guys Engine Carbed Vtwin with a 650cc (near enough!) capacity. Pulls well from between 2000 and 10,000, anything higher is wasted breath. Has no problem starting in the mornings which is nice from the previous carbed bike I owned. Sounds meaty with an aftermarket can, with the standard bazooka tube it sounds like a lawnmower. Handling and brakes My particular one has Hagon progressive ... more

Advantages Advantages good looks, affordable to the masses

Disadvantages Disadvantages lack of alarm, full fairing

Picked up my new 09(old model) sv650s k7 on saturday 7th march 2009 and have only done a few miles and its brilliant. I have only my naked learner bike to compare it to but its really fantastic. engine still to be run in so cant give it the full beans but still you can feel its power virtually in any gear from 3000 revs onwards. Highly recommended even if your an experienced rider. The only criticism if thats what you can call it is the lack of alarm etc, i think the sport version has one but i suppose with low purchase price you cant expect to too loaded up with kit. Full fairing looks better ... more

Advantages Advantages Performance, purchase price, cheap insurance, resale value.

Disadvantages Disadvantages May want a bigger bike after awhile. Cheesy-looking rear bumper.

I have owned and driven many motorcycles for about eleven years now, and always enjoy the versatility of a "middle-weight" bike. The Suzuki SV 650 is by far the greatest value on the market right now. For under $7,500 US you get a very sharp looking bike that performs well and does everything you ask of it. The SV 650 comes with fuel-injection, which may not seem like much, but once you get used to a fuel injected bike, starting up a bike without it will make you feel like you're in the stone age (you'd be amazed at how many "value bikes" that are still carbureted). So working from the inside ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages tank and rear suspension

I bought a SV a year ago, for most of this time i was on a resticted liecence, so 33bhp. this was ok really, i mean it didnt make much difference until u got to about 70mph, unless u go full throttle. on 33bhp after 70 mph it is very slow progress, the fastest it wud ever go on 33bhp is about 115, thats with a major 3mile straight and a rear wind in 4th gear. in normal surcumstances ur talking about 100mph. which is fine, goin fast in a straight line is fun for like a week anyway. Now the restiction has been removed which is a bit of a faff tbh, u gta change the carb sliders, which is good ... more

Advantages Advantages Engine, chassis and price

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Soft forks

The best budget middle weight bike out there. The engine produces good power throughout the rev range. It may be a few bhp down against the four cylinder opposition but it more than makes up for this in lowdown and midrange grunt. The engine also loves to rev, especially for a twin. The handling is excellent for a bike of this price. The forks are far too softly sprung and can bottom out under braking, but the chassis is soo good that you do not use the brakes that much anyway. The brakes are at best adequate, but anything better would just overwhelm the forks anyway. Comfort is good for the ... more

The business as a first bike, or if you have had a sportsbike that you cant use properly and you require some fun. All the good comments that are posted on these reviews and on all of the ofher sites, magazines etc are true! I bought a 2004 naked sv in blue for £1700, with 5000 miles courtesy of ebay, WHAT A STEAL, all my friends who own harleys, CBRs, Gixers all have to admit i stole the bike because of how good it is and the price i paid. Nippy, looks well, good riding position, i even find it comfortable. ... more

After a hard 2 months looking for a new bike, I finally decided to go SV. 7 months on and I Still haven’t looked back. This bike always puts a smile on my face every time I get on it. If you want to personalise it a little, then there are loads of minor or major extras you can add. The best (in my opinion) is the K2, it is still Carbs and has a little more punch that the standard fuel injection. So, if you are a novice and your looking at an SV, I completely and utterly assure you ... more
