    Advantages Advantages No contracts, great selection of programmes, fantastic customer services

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none I can think of

    Top Up Tv is a digital terrestrial service offering premium channels such as CBS, Living, Warner, TCM and much much more!! I decided to give this ago after the credit crunch hit home and was unable to afford sky's service so was looking for an alternative to keep me occupied on these cold nights in. A friend recommended top up tv, a service I had never heard of so was very skeptic when he told me that you get your first month free and then its only £9.99 a month with no contracts to tie me down, now after been with sky paying over £30 a month this sounded very good but there must be catch.     Advantages Advantages extra programs, when it wants to work

    Disadvantages Disadvantages always crashes, never gets signal, channel 5 on normal tv messes up, total waste of money

    Bought this box with high hopes, Sky digital wanted £110 up front so this was the other option. Worked fine up untill the 5th day of having it, the downloads were coming through, bit too american programs though for my liking. Then today I switched on my box and it seemed to work untill channel 5,QVC, Setanta which im paying more for, 5 life, and others didn't work. I put terestriol tv on and they all worked except for channel 5. I phoned up about 6 times and they didnt help at all, blaming it on static, Left the box off for 5 minutes, worked for about 5 seconds then went again. TOTAL WASTE OF ... more

    Advantages Advantages record 2 programs at once

    Disadvantages Disadvantages cant simply stop a recording

    I have had problems from day 1 with this product, i didnt buy it for top up tv , i wanted it just for recording free channels, and in all fairness it somtimes works, i find the box very slow to respond , the garbage it downloads on a night to your planner is very annoying , it crashes and needs to be reset every couple of weeks and my local comet has taken them off the shelves as they had to many brought back. it is also very noisy. after going into the engineers menu and rebooting back to factory settings, and managing to stop most of the downloads on a night the box has been working fine for ... more

    Advantages Advantages Programs anytime all day. Good Choice of channels, 160GB of space.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages The box has a few bugs but these are being fixed.

    Top Up TV Anytime and Top Up TV DTR Ordering and Delivery - Top up TV can be ordered online or via phone. You can also purchase in retailers such as Argos, Curry's etc. I choose to order mine online and it was not the best experience. The online ordering system told me it was unable to process my request and I had to ring up. When I did in fact ring up they told me my order had not been completed and I couldn't do it over the phone as it was a special offer. I was attempting to join the 12 month contact offer and get a free 160GB box. 2 Days later a Viewing card arrived in the post. I was very ... more

    I signed up to a contract when I was told I could receive Hallmark & Paramount on Top Up Tv Anytime for £9.99 pcm. It was only when I rang to query why I did not have Hallmark that I was told that Top Up TV only download certain programmes from the channel - programmes which they select. I then learnt that Top Up Tv typically only selects one programme from Hallmark per day! For this I pay £9.99 per month! A complete rip-off! I cancelled my contract & returned the box.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages numerous technical difficulties

    With the likes of Sky and Virgin media dominating the market, it is often a troublesome task trying to find the best deal on pay-TV. With their tied-in contracts and expensive rates, I wanted to find something different and did, albeit regrettably, in the form of Top Up TV. My experience of this particular service has been very negative, so I will try my hardest to keep this review as un-biased as possible (this could be quite difficult).     I have had digital TV when Ondigital first started. £7.99 a month Have been really pleased with it good choice of programes and good quality BOX Nokia have still got it and works well. Then Topup TV came along Big mistake £9.99 a month. the box arrived got the programes but hard drive failed. No problem they soon sent me a replacement (great) able to record programs mostly from Freeview because progs were not as in TV guide because of limited hours and now UK Gold hours are shorter still !!!     Having been a subscriber to Top Up TV since July 2004, I was pleased with the original service, and was slightly disappointed to hear that Five wanted some of the broadcast space back and that Top Up TV had to evolve into an Overnight VOD service. Also I was a bit disappointed to learn that my current PVR would not be suited to the service, and that a new PVR (DTR) would be required. However, since receiving my DTR in December 2006, I've been pleasantly surprised by both the technology and the service.     Disadvantages Disadvantages Downloads sometimes fail

    I have Recently got Top Up TV and i can say that it is a Good Digital Service but when time goes by the techongy for the service will be improved and updated. After having Top up TV for a few days now i can say iam impressed by the service i have got. the great thing is everything is on demand no need to wait for the channel to broadcast. The box downloads the data overnight and stores it on the harddrive. The good thing is the box can take more anytime downloads as the bit rate is lower.     Advantages Advantages plenty of space, regular updates to box, good selection of programs

    Disadvantages Disadvantages noisy and some software problems(but being worked on), no low power mode

    I have had this box now since febuary and all in all has been very good with a few exceptions. First the bad points -sometimes will record a program only to find it has become corupt and cant watch or will get half way through and then will not play any longer -it is a bit noisy, i have this in my bedroom and whe i first had it i found it to be rather noisy and found it hard to sleep however with time i have become used to it. if it is a normal tv stand etc then it shouldnt be a problem for you. -digital text and services can be a bit slow but not as bad as some boxs and is still usable.
