Advantages Advantages Comfortable, economical and good for town use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Slow, not as reliable as most and the wheels are too small for things like pot holes.

The Piaggio Zip 50 (4-stroke) is not a motor-scooter I would recommend buying and would never buy one myself again the small 4-stroke engine it was powered by was not at all powerful. Two weeks after I bought this vehicle there was problems in the variator area the starter motor disc was shreadded on the inside caused by the end of the crankshaft which is connected to it. As for the handling is was light and nimble and easily took corners and the brakes were perfect. It didn't really come with much i had a speedo guage indicator light fuel light and oil light and that was it. Where the fuel ... more

Advantages Advantages Simple and at its best quite reliable

Disadvantages Disadvantages Extremely light and slow

I have owned two of these bikes and therefore I think I can give a very good and honest review of this bike. So my first on road bike was a brand spanking new piaggio zip 50cc, I couldnt have been more excited. The bike had everything I thought I needed, simple clocks, glove compartment, average under seat room and two wheels. This bike was very enjoyable for the first month or so, the first problem i encountered was wind! Of all the things I thought may cause me trouble, wind was definetely not one I thought about, this bike is to light for its own good and as I would leave a cover on the ... more

Advantages Advantages very fast, alot of storage

    Disadvantages Disadvantages no fuel gage

I am very happy with my zip, Its a 2001 model but still starts every time on kick and electrick. I turned 16 in april and i was searching for a moped. I really like piaggio zips they look very sport and fly with a few modifications done to them. On the older models it comes with a switch for the lights, On-Off, which i really like because it doesn't waste my battery. Also the good thing about Zips is the have a glove compartment at the front of the moped unlike other mopeds and this allowedes more storage space. The only thing i dislike about zips is they have no feul gage, just a light to ... more

    Advantages Advantages Acceleration, reliable, Looks

Disadvantages Disadvantages Needs more aftersale products

A great moped for the first time biker, reliable and Zippy, good acceleration and quick. And most of all easy to get parts after sale, i've heard. No need to blend the oil with the petrol, it does it self. No hassels just twist and go. A great bike to commute. And is a very eco friendly way to go around. The insurance is very cheap and tax too. Im16 years old and im very pleased with mine! All I needed was a CBT to drive it. And off i went. I fill thetank with £8 of petrol and that would last me about a week and a half, much more friendly than you're average car and much more greener in my ... more

5 Stars Quick review of Vespa Piaggio Zip 50 by bigdave10 31/12/2007
i received this soped as a gift to commute to college and back. i didnt think much of the moped just as a form of transport, but i discoverd much more to the piaggio zip 50. as i gained more understanding of mopeds, i realised the zip 50 is one the best! it contains style, comfort, speed, and looks in one. weighing just 79kg, makes the zip 50 quick of the mark. i have recorded my zip 50 to do over 100miles to the gallon saving me alot of cash! overall, i can only think of one bad thing about the ... more

Advantages Advantages Small, "nippy", good looking

Disadvantages Disadvantages occasional faults that are easy to repair

I've had my Zip 50 for a little over 2 years now, i bought it origionally for getting to school without having to wait for the bus and i've never regretted it. The bike is very very reliable, it starts in all weather and usually after one press on the starter. It's easy to ride for a beginner and fun to drive as a more experienced user of mopeds. I've had a couple of minor problems with it - one being that the speedo wire drops out sometimes and therefore no longer displays any speed - this is an easy fix that requires popping off a cover and slipping the wire back onto the "dash board". The ... more

Advantages Advantages Great design, good speed, easy to ride

Disadvantages Disadvantages bit small, very light weight

I have had a Piggio Zip 50 for 18 months. As a first bike its great (particularly as you don't need a CBT or any motorbike specific licence to ride one) or just to get around town it is ideal. It is very nimble and light weight and easy to ride and the acceleration is excellent too for a bike of its engine size. For the bigger person it could be a little on the small side and in terms of stability it suffers a little in comparison to other bikes like the Sfera or Typhoon because of its light weight nature. Nevertheless its great fun to ride in town to beat the traffic and I would recommend it ... more
