Advantages Advantages Cheap because you can't spend money

Disadvantages Disadvantages You can't buy anything

Yahoo Auctions have closed completely... This review used to say "It is difficult to use such a site if you live and bank in the United Kingdom (or Ireland) - almost nothing has overseas postage figures and the other reviews of this site date from before the purchase of the UK business." Now I need to say that it doesn't exist at all. It is quite difficult to take 120 words to say "this site no longer exists", but I am doing my best. Come on Ciao - remove the ratings and links to this dead and buried site! Oh dear! I still need more words.... Like the famous parrot this site is dead, deceased ... more

Advantages Advantages Free service, good range of items

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not as efficient as Ebay

Well, there are a lot of online auction sites around now and most people are probably well aware of Ebay as one of the largest and most well known. However, among Yahoo's many different services they also have an auction site which I have tried briefly but am not so taken with. The one factor they have in their favour is that for sellers no fee is charged for listing and selling your item whereas Ebay charge a minium of 15p depending on the price of your item. No fortune but it may add up if you are having trouble getting your desired price for an item. I've dabbled with the Yahoo auction site ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to use, FREE, FUN

Disadvantages Disadvantages SOME PEOPLE NOT TRUSTWORTHY!!

Ok, here goes, I have been with Yahoo for some time now, as well as other sites like ebay and aucland, but still use Yahoo most frequently. I find it so easy to use. The auction is free to anyone, as long as you register. I use it for both buying and selling and never realised it could be such fun. I was absolutely terrified of buying on the internet but the sellers at yahoo put my mind at ease, My first transaction was gr8. I have had a few bad customers but then not everyones perfect, the majority though are great. The transactions are fast and friendly and people don't mind waiting if you ... more

Advantages Advantages It's Free, Easy To Use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not a big user base

One of the things the internet has taught me is that one man's crap is another man's treasure. That's where online auctions have come into play, when I think of all the stuff I've sold over the years I'm also inclined to think of how much more money I could have got by selling it via an auction site. The dominant force in online auctions is undoubtedly Ebay, their user base is by far the biggest which means that you have far more chance of selling your items at a price you'd like. But of course Ebay do charge you for the service and that's all well and good if you know that you're going to ... more

Advantages Advantages User Ratings, good navigation, alerts, Free

Disadvantages Disadvantages Risk of not recieving goods.

When i first thought about selling stuff on the internet, i was very sceptical. Worring about sending money and not recieving the product, buying faulty products, etc. About a year ago i though i would give it a go and try and sell something, thinking at least i wouldn't have to send the item unless i get the money. I had been using yahoo for its other services for a while, so thought why not try them. I checked out other peoples auctions, and quickly learnt that there ratings, where if a user buys or sells something off someone, both the buyer and seller comment on how good/bad the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Easy to navigate

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can't think of any!

I love these auction websites and think they are the best place to pick a bargain these days. Never mind all that puching and shoving in the January sales, just sit me down in front of a PC and I'll find you the best value for money on the auctions. Yahoo has a massive selection of categories to choose from and the site is really easy to navigate around, or even better if you know exactly what you want just type it in the search facility. With easy to read member ratings you get the chance to find a bit out about the person you're buying from, before you place a bid. It's not just the buying I ... more

Advantages Advantages Some excellent bargains to be had, easy to find things, FREE to list items.

Disadvantages Disadvantages As with all auctions, you have to be careful who you're buying from...

"*Another* auction site" you may say? Well, this one is different; this one, my friend, does NOT charge you to list items unlike Ebay and fsauctions and QXL which do. Yahoo, offers a huge number of catagories and more often that not you'll be able to find what you were looking for (and probably a lot more that you weren't after but end up being interested in anyway!) One thing about auction sites (not just Yahoo) that some people don't seem to like, is the number of members that are actually traders running a business. This however, doesn't bother me; it often turns out that they're selling ... more

Advantages Advantages Good quality bargains and nice people. The whole thing is great and its free!!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Once auction on the way, you can't change the price if you decide its not going all that well.

A must for anyone who wants to find a bargain. There seems to be a bit of confusion between the american and english sites. As you can see from the address this is aimed at the british public. I have been using the auctions for quite a while now and to say i have never had a problem would be a bit over the top. I have sold alot of gear but i have also bought a lot of gear. I can't resist when i start looking. To register is free, compared to some others that try and charge you a handling fee. I can't see the point of paying a third party when you don't have to. As the old saying goes "Cut out ... more

Advantages Advantages its free and easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages you need a credit card to register to prove you are 18 years or over.

I must admit i do like to buy a good bargain when i spot one and Yahoo auctions are certainly a good place to start. I have been using Yahoo auctions for sometime now both buying and selling. The best thing about Yahoo auctions is that they are totally free whether you are buying or selling. It is free to register too. Most other auction sites i have tried want to charge you a fee for selling which can get quite expensive and sometimes they even want to charge just to register. The first thing you need to do is register yourself on Yahoo's auction site. It is all fairly easy to fill in and all ... more

yahoo!auctions was one of the first sites i visited when i got on the internet,it is easy to use and selling goods is free.it's the only one that is .i like the fact that all the people i have dealt with have been friendly and helpful.i have made a few friends as well.i find ebay a bit time consuming taking far too much time getting to the right category, viewing the gallery and searching for similar items all takes to many pages to get to. with yahoo!you just click on the category and away you go searching through pages of pictures of bargains. the rating system is good,so you can see what ... more
