    We ordered books for our daughter's birthday and for party bags allowing plenty of time. Books did not arrive. No contact from the book people. Re rang them to be told that the books were "still in the warehouse because there had been a delay". They woudl not tell us why, simply crossly saying that they "were busy". When we asked to speak to someone who coudl tell us when they would arrive the lady hung up. When we askd a second lady when they would arrive, explainin that we had needed them for the birthay she said "whell you obviously ... more

    I have ordered from the Book People several times. Great if ordering a lot as Free P&P if spending more than £25 , but expensive if want just 1 item. I find ordering quick and easy, website easy to navigate and a good choice. Items arrive quickly too

    Disadvantages Disadvantages (Unless you're a parent) Too many childrens' books.

    I can't remember how I first got introduced to The Book People, but for two or three years now I've looked forward to seeing their catalogue in the post every couple of months. The Book People don't call themselves a 'book club' as they don't ask people to join up, they don't have any minimum purchase requirements and they will never send you unsolicited book choices, as some clubs do. Books for children and young people are always at the front of their slim catalogue, and indeed fill about 60% of the pages.     My family and I use this website all the time. I was joined with Books for Children, but now I have completed my membership agreement, I will be using it even more now. Every book I brought off Books For Children I found cheaper on The Book People. Amazing customer service, we had a delivery where a free gift was missing, so I emailed them and within 5 minutes they rang us apologising and informing us the parcel would be despatched that day, which it was as it was delivered the next day.     I regularly purchased books from The Book People at my place of employment, on setting up my own business, I no longer had the opopunity to do this until recently when I re-discovered them on the net. Quick and easy registration, without too much personal information requested. Also if your not happy buying over the net, you can request offer booklets through the post............ can't be bad. They offer a great selection of fiction and non fiction certainly worth taking a look. Children's books have a recommended reading age which is great for those of us who never know what age suits what ... more

    I have been a member of bookpeople for some years now and by that I mean that one day a brochure droped through my door and I was pleasently suprised to find good quality recent release books for low prices. I have 2 children and I started by ordering books for them and then for their friends birthdays. I soon moved on to buying for myself and family and I am now completely hooked.     I have been a regular customer of the book people now for over two years. They have a wide variety of quality books ranging from children's titles to reference. I enjoy purchasing the book people's special edition box sets where you can pick up, for example, ten books in a series that would normally cost you £70 for as little as £9.99. The book people have a reward scheme where the more you purchase the more points you earn. These points can then be redeem against book purchases. I have had four free books already by using the points that I had been rewarded. The books always arrive well ... more

    fantastic books at fantastic prices much less than you would pay on the high street would recommend to any one they have a wide choice of books and send you special offers through the post if you can not find what you are looking for or not sure what section it could be in then there is a search box to help you along your way they always have a sale section every month but be quick because the offers are so good i imagine they get snapped up quickly if once your books have arrived and you are not entirley satisfied you are allowed to return them every time you buy a book online you collect ... more

    From the first chapter is always a good idea, I've always found! The Book People are a bookclub that know a good deal when they see one, but don't just keep it to themselves either. I have had loads of books from them in the past, and all at cheap prices. They offer a wide range of books aswell, from childrens' books to history of old China; from basic recipe books to the great autobiographical works of Palina dn so on. They are not only available online, as I seen them in the work setting also. The only trouble with this though is that they don't come very often, and if you pay with cash only ... more
