    Advantages Advantages easy sign up, short profiles creation, good if all you want is to get rated

    Disadvantages Disadvantages don't go here for a date, buggy as hell, fake profiles trying to spam you

    Once, the hotornot.com website was run by two college kids from U.C. Berkeley in Calif.--Jim and James. Then, the sold out to a big corporation. Actually, I don't blame them for that--they made a bundle of money. But now the site has changed. It's full of fake profiles, and the new corp. owners don't fix obvious bugs (the geographical search is crap and brings up profiles not in your area), even though I've logged them (over a year ago).     "Your on Hot or Not?" "Erm why?" Rapidly followed up by "and what's yer score then?" Were the choice words used by Assethound when I casually mentioned as you do that I'd uploaded my photo on to HotorNot.com. Now you could be forgiven into thinking I was vain and needed the admiration of all those anonymous 10 givers but the truth was it was a bit of a dare, with the girls over on Chuckleweb so in the end a few of us put our photo's up to see if the rest of the online world thought we were hotties.     Trawling through www.lyrics.astraweb.com, last night, looking for the words to some indecipherable songs I was listening to, I stumbled upon a link on the top of the web page showing a pic of a very pretty lady, with words to the effect 'rate me, hot or not?'. Out of complete curiousity (ahem, ahem), I clicked on the link and was transported to www.hotornot.com. The site is basically a medium for anyone of us out there to post a picture on the site and get other surfers passing through the site to vote how attractive you are on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being not so 'hot', and 10 being 'very hot') ... more

    Let's face facts - the Internet isn't there to make us feel better. The majority of sites, you will find, take a curious pleasure in making net users feel a whole lot worse. If the web was there to cheer us up, dooyoo wouldn't have included 'Not Useful', Amazon wouldn't charge for postage, flashy sites would cater for cranky PCs like mine, and NTL wouldn't exist.     8 hours to wait, see if your fit enough to date hehe. Thats my motto for this creative site made by 2 american students. How the hell did they think of this? No One will ever know.     Amihotornot is a website which lets you send in photographs of yourself and have other site members rate your looks on a scale of 1 to 10. Sounds stupid and is as stupid as it sounds but you can waste a fair maount of time here looking and rating photos. Dont ask me what the appeal is. Well one appeal is that there is the overwhelming urge to rate everyone self obsessed enough to send a photo in very lowly to slap them down a peg or two.     After you thought they could of done everything the internet has to offer then along came 2 geniuses! 2 guys thought of an idea to let people submit their pictures and then be rated based on looks. What a great idea! This can be a ego booster or a confidence looser.well for me it was a ego booster as i continually get into the 9's. Ok, heres the jist of it,(you have to be 18) firstly you get a picture of you and then sign up (which is very brief and quick and requires no personal information).     hotornot.com is a web site dedicated to answering that very same question, am i hot or not? This site was formally known as www.amihotornot.com, but is now www.hotornot.com, so thats why the link you've been trying hasn't been working! The way it works is that you submit your photo to the site to be rated by other users. When someone views your photo they have a choice of rating it from 1-10 on good looks by using the rating meter above each photo.
