    Every single visit I have made to Sound Control, be it for a new guitar or a packet of strings, has been a good one. The staff there are very welcoming and they never hard sell. My band and I have bought all of our rig there and keep going back for more. We were able to try out all all the instruments that we were fancied the look of and for each one that was taken off the wall, we got expert information about it, that was no way patronising . The staff are very helpful at compiling all the componets of things you are likely to need to go with your purchase, but don't force you to buy any of ... more

    Advantages Advantages everything, helpfull staff, great amount of stock and great prices

    Recommend to potential buyers: yes Full review ----------------------------------------​---------------------------------------- the staff at Sound Control know what they are talking about and don't try to up sell you or rip you off. I recently went to my local branch as i have been after a new mixing desk. The staff there were brilliant as i must admit i was abit of nightmare. I was enquiring about almost every item and they helped me patiantly. You see when im spending my hard earned i got to make sure its been spent well. nonetheless the staff spent some time phoning around other branches ... more

    What's good? Fantasic amounts of some of the most droolworthy music toys known to man No pressure to buy What's not so good? Some useless staff Ok, first things first. I had a really bad experience with this shop, so if anyone feels my review is a little scathing, please bear that in mind. About a year ago I decided I wanted to take up the bass guitar. I looked around a number of shops for a guitar that appealed to me, and in the end decided that the Yamaha RBX170 was the one for me.     Sound Control Modern Music Stores is a diamond in the rough as far as Musical Instrument purchasing is concerned. Those musicians amongst us will be interested to learn that these stores scattered around the country from London to Newcastle will find that they are both cheaper than many other places and provide better service. Unlike other stores to which I have compared them (Windows Music-Newcastle, Sounds Live-Newcastle) you will find the biggest selection of goods including rock instruments, at the lowest prices.     I have nothing but praise for the staff at Sound Control these guys know what they are talking about and don't try to sell you stuff that you don't want or need. When i recently had some cash to spend on musical equipment i visited the Salford branch with a list of what i wanted and even though they did not have all of it in stock i was given a reasonable explanation of why not and also given a realistic idea of how long it would take to get hold of certain items.     Sound contol is one of the biggest chains of music shops in Britain, with about ten branches (most of them in Scotland). In my time I have visited three of these branches in Dunfermline, Glasgow and Salford. Every time I've been impressed. The shops are well laid out and categorised into different section; PA, guitars, keyboards, etc. Each section has a dedicated employee who generally speaking know what they are talking about. The prices are reasonable, but it's worth having a haggle over the price, there's always room for knocking a few quid off your potential buy. Sound control is airy ... more
