    Swapz.co.uk began life in 2002 and has a massive following. The site has 2 main categories "Swapz" and "Wantedz" which are self explanatory. Split then into different categories within each ranging from Antiques to Toys and Games. A lot of swaps done on this website are mobile phones. By clicking on the "Swapz" link it takes you to the category list and beside each category (in brackets) is the number of swaps listed in that category. For instance today in Swapz category "Mobile and Home Phones" there are 1814 swaps available from Sim free phones to contract phones, accessories etc ... more

    Online selling,buying and swapping is getting bigger and bigger and Swapz boasts about it being the leading in the swapping market. I signed up to swapz 3 month ago, that may not seem a long time but in that time I have experianced the good, the bad and the ugly on this site. So Firstly What Is Swapz?     This website came recommended to view by a colleague of my partner, so far it has been nothing but excellent. For those of you who are not aware of what this website is all about, here's a brief idea. Buyers and Sellers of unwanted goods can registar for free and list any item, you can swap for anything, and i mean anything - from CD's to Houses (yes someone actually listed their house to swap!!!) Similar to eBay in that you can search for what you want and make an offer to the Seller.     I joined " Swapz" for my son whos 14 so he could " swop " his Mini Moto. A boy call BASSMANASH agreed to swop a broken Petrol Remotocontrol buggy. i send the bike and the buggy is all ready to send as soon as he got the bike. All went well i sent the bike (£40) tracked. He got the bike Well happy with it and only then he told me he dose not have the Buggy his " Friend " dose and the swop is nothing to do with him. Hence a month later No swop compleat and a load of usless BULLSHIT emails sent from BASSMANASH. Swapz customer service are usless and refuse to deal with it. so a statement to police ... more

    After being with the old Swapz site for a year or so, and being totally put off using it by the amount of muppets on thier, I was lifted a little when I went to log in one day and the site had changed. I thought great new site and vast improvements. How wrong I was! The biggest problem is still there, no control over content by the administration staff. I tested the site admin and placed my car on the site in 20 seperate adverts, to date they are all up and Swapz administraters have not noticed. Apparently they will stay thier as long as no-one reports them. Another theory that I have tested ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Waste of time as you adverts get lost in the aabyss of duplicates

    I have been a member for a few years, but over the past year it has got riddiculous. There are so many duplicate ads its like a plague and those who run the site don't care! The cars & motorbikes are worst. People post thier ads 4 or 5 times, the people in charge only remove reported ads and thats once a day if your lucky. So you report someone and swapz will remove thier ads and 10 minutes later they are back up. They do not take action against repeat offenders, no expiration on ads so they are there for years. They should be constantly monitoring and removing offenders ads hourly and run the ... more

    The concept is great and swapz has potential, but I won't bore you with what the site is for, theres a clue in the name. One of he flaws is how a person specifies their location, either when they place an advert or when they search for one. Sites usually use a 'county' reference, thats to say that if you live in 'Ilford' you specify 'essex', if you live in ' bradford' you specify ' yorkshire, or west yorkshire', its a tried and tested method, hence its popularity and success. Swapz dont use this method, they tend to use 'north east', ' north west' etc, which simply doesnt work . Leeds is the ... more

    Anyone can register without proof of who they are. I know this because I have been ripped off twice, and I have only used it twice. Swapping is just not a safe way to trade unless members are verified, which means paying. Also members use any old email address then dissapear. I found the load up times slow. There seems to be alot of items, but the majority are not wanting to swap even for excellent swaps.     This site is amateur and there's not control at all. Members just list their rubbish for free, about 10 times each with the same item, same description. So out of the 60,00 car ads on there 59,000 are duplicate listings. Its ridiculous, you report them and its days before their ads get taken down. No interest from the admin team (2 people max), or sarcastic repetitive replies. I was offered a car by the time it came to meet, he had gone from having all docs, to losing the MOT and not have a V5 lost in moving. Car was only mot'd the month before.
