    Well it is an interesting site but having done some quick research I am really concerned about the accuracy of the demographics. I live in a village of 800 people and there are six postcodes. 4 have the village as type 7, 1 as type 36 and 1 as type 27. Type 7 is the correct one for the village, but how have 27 and 36 possible been arrived at. The village is the most homogenous place I have ever lived in and type 36 and 27 are not correct which gives concern for the rigour of other information.

    I did a search on my own postcode (MK17 9..) and the only secondary school listed was Cottesloe. A-level points per student 138.0. In this part of Buckinghamshire, we're lucky enough to still have LEA grammar schools. Our village lies just within the grammar schools catchment area and there's a free school bus from the village. This is where many of the children go. The three grammar schools they can go to in Aylesbury are not just some of the best state schools in Bucks, but some of the best nationally! e.g. A level points per student 443.0.     Upyourstreet.co.uk is as it states a guide to your neighbourhood - or indeed any other. Just enter the postcode and it will bring up myriad useful info on the area. if you don't know the postcode you can use the name of the town but be aware all the info will be based on the central post code which often is not terribly representative. It's a good site to look at if you are thinking of moving to a new area giving local property prices, local schools with SATs, Council tax rates and local facilities.     UpMyStreet.com must be one of the most useful sites that I have every seen on the Internet. When you first access the site at www.upmystreet.com, you are met with a page that simply asks you to enter your postcode or town. Once you have entered this and preferably your postcode, you will begin to see just how useful this really is. First of all it is absolutely free and is sponsored basically by the advertisers on the site.     Upmystreet.com is a very useful, informative site that gives you an overview of the area you live in or an area you wish to find out about, all you need is a postcode. Disadvantages ************ I will get this bit out of the way first, as it’s the bit I feel bad about. I like this site for the information it provides but the actual layout and style is quite poor. There are far too many adverts and links to other sites, but if you can cope with that and see through the proverbial crap, then you are bound to be able to get what you are looking for.     upmystreet.co.uk is a superb web site which gives details about absolutely any street in the UK. It tells you so much, in fact, that it's actually quite scary. About the only thing it doesn't tell you is the colour of the underpants of the man at no. 34. But it's not just there for voyeuristic pleasure (though there's a lot to be got, believe me!), it actually serves a really useful purpose if you're thinking of visiting or moving to an area, or if you're doing any sort of demographic research for whatever reason. I'm in the process of buying a house and have found this site invaluable as well ... more

    Upmystreet.co.uk is a very informative web site if you are looking to move house or just looking for information on the local schools in your area. When I entered our post code I knew most of the information that came up as we live in a very small town, however it was interesting to know the average value of a Detached property in the area that we live and also shows how may properties the average has been calculated on. It shows all the information that you may not know about the local councils, MP's, facilities in the area and even shows the shops and Creche facilities in a 20 mile radius ... more

    Upmystreet is an excellent web site if you want to find out about a particular area. This site will be able to give you a brief descrption of the area including demographic information, house prices (which are based on what was registered at the land registry office and not a guestimate from a local estate agent.) It will also give you a rough guide to the council tax rate, unfortunately it does not give a specific rate ie what band houses are on in that street.     I visited Up my street after reading an oppinion on it from the frontpage and i have to say what a useful site. You get to the homepage and type in your postcode or town and it redirects you to information on that area including a detailed street map and area profile (to see if it is dodgy or not?) Information includes average house prices for different types of house in comparison to the national average. This site contains lots of advertising inks like to a property clasified section that you can modify search criteria to bring up a house suitable for you. A jobs section is included and ... more
