Advantages Advantages Easy to use and register. Good information. Well laid out pages.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Slight cost involved but free trial offered.

Having had credit problems in the past and having tried to resolve these problems I found to my horror that several years leter I still was rated badly as a credit risk eeven when trying to open a Bank Account.I decided to check my credit rating and was advised to try Credit expert.I found the service easy to use and it has proved very useful in allowing me to see where any outstanding problems lay in respect of my credit rating.I found my rating was now excellent BUT the system highlights areas where third parties checking on my status may have doubts. It enbles the user to follow up places ... more

Advantages Advantages Useful at a glance look at your credit history.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive for what you get and customer service is apalling.

I used to have a membership paying £6.99. I then went to reactivate it as it had expired some time ago. Logged in and went to the reactivation page, entered my credit card details assuming I was reactivating at the same level and then only after clicking 'confirm' button did I notice it was £14.99. I picked up the phone immediately and rang to cancel and ask for a refund. Person on the phone said it couldn't be done. Asked to speak to a supervisor but they just claimed I should have read the terms and conditions. Didn't try anything to keep me as a customer so in the end I just cancelled ... more

Advantages Advantages None - there are cheaper ways to see your credit file

Disadvantages Disadvantages The service that keeps on billing and costing. Expensive. Harder to cancel than Readers Digest

I have found CreditExpert to be a rip-off. The free service automatically starts billing you. I cancelled the service as it didn't tell me anything useful and you have to pay extra to actually get a credit score. The basic credit report that they charge you each month for you can actually get for just £2 as a statuory right. You can't cancel easily (have to do it by phone after a long wait). After I cancelled they continued to bill me for over a year after I cancelled. When I tried to cancel by phone and email said that I didn't have an account - yet they still took money from my credit card ... more

    Advantages Advantages Simple to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Sneeky in their billing practices

I opened an account with them to check my record, and promptly closed it the following week. I've now just realised that they've still been taking £7.99 from my account for the last 7 months. When I called about it, they said the it had been reopened - god know how. In fairness to them they do send out random emails that say a change has been made to my credit report - but they don't mention that they're still taking money out of my account. Their email also looks like every other spam email I receive. The account manager I spoke to about it didn't want to budge an inch on the possibility of ... more

    Advantages Advantages none for me

    Disadvantages Disadvantages heartache and disappointment

I had a very bad experience with Credit Expert. I signed up for the free trial and waited for the pin number to come by post. After 1 week I emailed asking for the pin number, over the next three weeks I telephoned and emailed with no success. After 6 weeks from the original request and with no success, despite speaking to several operators, I had no pin number, and cancelled my membership. The problems did not stop. I was promised a cancellation confirmation email and when that didn't arrive I telephoned again, to be told that my membership had been cancelled but, in the meantime my first ... more

Advantages Advantages Could save you money. Allows you to correct anything thats not right

Disadvantages Disadvantages £6.99 a month membership

Credit Expert is a perfect site for anyone looking at making a large purchase such as buying a car, for anyone looking to move, or simply to check on your credit score. Myself and my husband both first signed up to Credit Expert about 18 months ago after we had paid several loans off after being in debt. We wanted to check out what our scores were, but in the process found out that a lot of our report was actually inaccurate. This wasn't just the case for one of us, but for both of us. We were shocked when one loan we had paid off early was showing as being in default. We soon got on the case ... more

    Advantages Advantages None..

Disadvantages Disadvantages Criminals.. Avoid like the plague..

This organization, although on the face of it provide a useful service, are in fact veering on criminal in their billing methods. What creditexpert.co.uk purport to do ascertain your credit rating for free during the course of a 7 day trial. What they actually do is: 1) Sell your details to any previous creditors you may owe money to. 2) Charge you every month, based on withdrawals made from the account you give them to test for a credit rating. They do so by contractual slight of hand and in their terms and conditions attempt to exclude themselves from Consumer Protection Law. I am sure ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Dishonest, unhelpful

Avoid at all costs. I signed up for the 'free 30 day trial', then telephoned after 7 days to close my account. The telephone operator spoke to me for a few minutes to sort out closing my account, then confirmed that my account had been closed. Two months later, and they are still charging me £6.99 per month. As an additional point, the advice they gave me on my credit rating was completely unhelpful. They could not explain why I was refused a debit card (yes, a debit card) on the basis of my credit rating when my credit rating is perfect and I have never been in debt. A pointless, unhelpful ... more

Advantages Advantages If you need to sort out your credit record, you need the information to address the problem

Disadvantages Disadvantages too easy to get caught in monthly payments through idlel curiosity

I signed up for a free trial of Credit Expert from Experion and must admit that all I saw was the free offer. There were the usual pages of T&C in legalistic language. I was in a hurry, so failed to spot that they take nearly £7 off you every month after the trial unless you stop it by telephoning them. I completely forgot to cancel. And as I was more familiar with the name Experion, I later didn't connect Credit Expert debits with the free trial that I associated with Experion. After that first look at my record, I didn't use the service. I have now cancelled, but am considerably out of ... more

I've never come across such poor customer service, you cannot cancel online and any emails are automatically returned. They insist that you phone them to cancel and when you call "all our operators are busy." Appalling, avoid like the plague.
