Good overall product
Review of Linksys 10/100 8-Port VPN Router RV082 - router by
supaFly
Advantages: Easy setup, connection right out of the box
Disadvantages: no paper documentation
I purchased this item from a large computer store, and I have had absolutely no problems with the operation or configuration of this device. I have a small three computer network LAN, and I have cable internet access. I primarily use this router to connect to the internet, but I also use it to connect with the other computers on the network. this device functions well as a firewall, and it allows configuration of the ports, as well as VPN, and DHCP.

La Fonera FON router
Review of La Fonera FON router by
autonick
Advantages: Free surfing all over Europe
Disadvantages: Not really the big money spinner I though it would be
...You sign up to the La Fonera website and from there you can either become an internet sharer or a money earner ( I use that last term loosely). If you opt to share your internet then anyone in the world who has a Fon router can log on to your internet with their user name and password and surf for free, when within range.
Or you can use your router as a means to make some cash, as it works as a hotspot for passing internet surfers. The idea is brilliant ... ...along with my router.
The La Fonera website often run competitions to win things, to participate you just need to keep your Fon on, so thats easy.
I think for travelers going around europe this is a great item as it means you can get free internet access across europe, you can look up hotspots before you go and note down the street names so you know where to log on. ...

Belkin Wireless G Router
Review of Belkin Wireless G Router F5D7230-4 - wireless router by
Sasha23
Advantages: Works very well 3 floors up.
Disadvantages: If you are on Vista, takes a costly telephone call to get you connected.
We bought this wireless router as my son wanted to use his Wii on the internet. His room is on the 3rd floor and the computer and router are on the ground floor.
It was simple to set up and the instructions were good, however, because we are using Windows Vista, nothing is ever straight forward. With one longish phone call to India, via the number on the instructions to ring, everything was sorted out. The phone call took 35 minutes for which I ... ...is no way I could have worked it out for myself, it was far too complicated to get this router to work on Vista.
Once it was working though everything has gone smoothly. I do find that the internet is somewhat slower however he has a great connection on the 3rd floor and we have no complaints. Although the initial set up was frustrating and involved a costly telephone call, it is worth the money and works very well. ...

Good all rounder
Review of Belkin High-Speed Mode Wireless G Router wireless router by
rik88
Advantages: Easy to set up
Disadvantages: Costly
Had some trouble setting up for the first time but after a few software updates was fine and is still working to this day, without the update the interface is slow and slugish but with it these problems seem to go away. The wireless has good range as well as being a consistant connection the speed isnt that bad but i did encounter a little overheating problem but that seems to of cleared up the transformer on the plug did start to hum as well but ... ...being on all day and night 24-7. the Built in firewall is good and reliable but lacks regular updates so not a perminant solution to anti virus 4 modes of wireless security are available. also has 12 spaces to set up virtual servers.
So all in all a good family router not without its problems but what hasnt got problems? ...

Wonderful wireless bridge
Review of Buffalo AirStation Turbo G High Power WLI-TX4-G54HP - bridge by
ncdave4life
Advantages: best way to get a wired ethernet port at the other end of a wireless connection
Disadvantages: none
...which is similar, but the Buffalo WLI-TX4-G54HP is better in every way. It is much easier to set up (via a simple web interface, and access to the 1.1.1.1 configuration port), it has great range, it has 4 ports instead of 1, and it has been totally trouble-free. With the Linksys WET11, the only way I can get back to the configuration screen after setting it up is to reset the device and start from scratch. With the Buffalo WLI-TX4-G54HP, its default ... ...to something in your local subnet, so you can still get to the configuration/status page after it is set up. Nice!
Buffalo also has some similar products with just one ethernet port, instead of four. Those are the products with "TX1" in the model number, instead of "TX4." ...
