Toasty warm - toasty cold - you never know!!
Review of Breville TR48 by
ladyboymondaytofriday
Advantages: makes lovely toasted sandwiches
Disadvantages: no temperature gauge - cooking is hit and miss - hard to clean - no timer
...as waffle irons - the Breville TR48 does not unfortunately - what it does is toast up to four slices of bread to make toasties and this is where I find myself muttering a cursing at the darn thing - there is no heat control or light to indicate that it has hit the optimum temperature so it is a bit hit and miss on the old cooking times. In defence of the TR48 the lack of gizmo's and dials makes it very easy to use and when things all fall into place ... ...end of the technology spectrum rather than continuing to use the Breville TR48. It's good if you are on a limited budget but I'd rather have a temperature gauge - the capacity to make waffles and a machine that isn't so difficult to clean.
I wouldn't buy one again. ...

Breville for toasties
Review of Breville TR30 by
bettyboouk
Advantages: Great tasty sandwiches
Disadvantages: Quite difficult to clean
Overview
This creats really nice, deep filled and sealed toasties that are usually sealed around the edges - the seal being nice and crispy. I think this cost £20 - we have had it for about a year and the toasties taste excellent as they did when we did the first.
Asthetics
White with black tefal coated plates. The machine looks very much like a sandwich toaster. It has a green and red light on the top. It doesn't take up too much room and can ... ...It is quite light to lift.
Ease of use
This toastie maker is so simple to use. Plug it in and the red light on top will illuminate, while it is heating up you should prepare your sandwich by buttering the bread (the buttered side needs to be on the outside of the sandwich) and then adding a filling. This makes deep filled sandwiches but don;t over fill. Once it has heated enough the red light will go out and the green will light up. Lift the lid ...

A Kitchen Staple with Longevity
Review of George Foreman 12205 NEXT Grilleration by
Jammie87
Advantages: Speed of Cooking, Ease of Use, Removable Plates
Disadvantages: Top Plastic Cover is flimsy
Exceptionally easy to use and a staple for my kitchen. The next grilleration foreman grill is easy to use as it has variable temperature settings and a built in timer, meaning all you have to do is switch it on and chuck some meat on it. Size-wise it fits about 4 chicken breasts which is a decent size, but for the price i would have liked something which could handle more food. The reason i bought one was for the removable plates, which are the best ... ...stick the plates in the microwave means that this model had great longevity compared to the lesser models which will accumulate grease etc easily. I do have a complaint with the top section though, the plastic cover over the top was extremely flimsy and broke within a few weeks, although this doesnt really affect the grill that much since the primary use is just to cook meat. The grill also comes with a handy recipe book and a couple of fat-drip ...

Don't loaf around the kitchen.
Review of Breville TR39 by
runetune
Advantages: Not just a toasted sandwich maker
Disadvantages: Can take a little while to cool down
...decided to go for the Breville TR39 Sandwich press.
~ The Difference between a sandwich press and toaster ~
Well basically it all comes down to the hinges. A sandwich toaster has fixed hinges and allows you to use regular bread, which it then turns into a toasted sandwich using either one or two compartments. It also means your not as restricted in the slice of bread in overall size (often our old machine wouldn't take more than a small loaf slice).
... ...hinges that allow for thicker bread like ciabata, panini and focaccia. Great if like us you enjoy a variation on the toasted sandwich dream.
~ The Toasted Sandwich ~
The first noticeable difference between this and the toasted sandwich maker is there are no compartments that the bread fits into. This also means you don't get the edges sealed in the same way, nor do you have the sandwich "sealed" in half.
I admit I was a little concerned that the ...

Breval Panini Maker
Review of Breville TR40 by
misseskimo
Advantages: Easy to use and clean, smart looking, great for cooking anything!
Disadvantages: None that I've found just yet!
I love this machine! I've had it a few years now and don't kow what I did before without it!
Besides being a compact size and a remarkably convenient appliance, the stylish stainless steel and black colourings are a distinctive feature; which are easy to match with other kitchen appliances on the market at the moment.
It's easy to use and has a smoth wipe-clean surface, it also doesn't get too hot on the outside when it's on and cooking. You can ...
