Review of Kenwood SM435 Sandwich Maker by westonsi

Advantages: cheap, cooks evenly, easy to clean, looks good with unique design
Disadvantages: no timer or thermostat

...I opted for the Kenwood SM435 because it was reasonably priced and looked the business so would fit in quite nicely with our toaster, kettle and bread pot. Unlike most other toasted sandwich makers, instead of being quite flat to the work surface it looks a bit futuristic (I have attached a picture below to save trying to describe the shape which escapes me at this moment in time). I’m sure you’ll agree, it looks a bit different and with the silver ...
...than 20 quid. The SM435 has fixed hinges so opening and closing it quite straightforward, there is no trying to reposition the top section to align it with the base and the handle is insulated so it doesn’t get remotely hotter once it has been in operation for a while. There are two separate plates which both warm individually and it can make 2 sandwiches at once. More than adequate for our needs as I personally don’t eat that many toasted sandwiches ... The latest kitchen gadget in Morgenhund Towers
Review of Kenwood SM 406 Edelstahl by Morgenhund

Advantages: Can be stored vertically, looks good
Disadvantages: No removable non-stick plates - makes cleaning a bit fiddly

As I had a voucher for my local ironmonger's - which happens to rather fortunately be a Le Creuset stockist - which was due to expire and couldn't find any Le Creuset stuff that I really wanted for the sum of the voucher I decided to plump for a sandwich toaster instead. I had not bothered to buy one in Austria as the sandwich bread was so tasteless, but with a wholemeal sandwich loaf now being available at last in the supermarket I go to, I thought ...
...SM420 series, which was being sold for EUR 29.99 (ca. GBP 20) whilst the SM406 was EUR 33 (GBP 22), and the differences appeared to be only cosmetic, although I went for the SM406 as it was in black and stainless steel rather than white. The SM420 had also got the added feature that the plates could be removed for cleaning - this seems to be the biggest bane usually, that sandwich toasters do not seem to be very easy to clean. However, as they explicitly ... Read review

A great time saver for Sunday brunch!
Review of Kenwood WM804 Disney Waffle Maker by JodiEllis

Advantages: Makes a quick and delicious breakfast treat
Disadvantages: No healthy recipes included

I received this Mickey waffle maker as a Christmas present and I have to say that I have found it a great addition to my kitchen. From an English perspective I would say that the waffles that it makes are more like Scotch pancakes than a traditional waffle - I used the basic recipe which is included with the product. The waffle maker is so easy to use, as a weekend treat I would never again bother to get the frying pan to make pancakes with the added ...
...device all you have to do is plug it and wait for a few minutes for it to heat up and you are ready to go. Each mould of the four takes a small ladle full of batter and you then simply close the lid and wait for about 5 minutes. The outcome is four pancakes that are just the right size for a snack. I find that the basic batter makes about 20 pancakes which more than satisfies 2 adults for breakfast or brunch. The other good thing is how easy it is ... Read review

A Kitchen Staple with Longevity
Review of George Foreman 12205 NEXT Grilleration by Jammie87

Advantages: Speed of Cooking, Ease of Use, Removable Plates
Disadvantages: Top Plastic Cover is flimsy

Exceptionally easy to use and a staple for my kitchen. The next grilleration foreman grill is easy to use as it has variable temperature settings and a built in timer, meaning all you have to do is switch it on and chuck some meat on it. Size-wise it fits about 4 chicken breasts which is a decent size, but for the price i would have liked something which could handle more food. The reason i bought one was for the removable plates, which are the best ...
...stick the plates in the microwave means that this model had great longevity compared to the lesser models which will accumulate grease etc easily. I do have a complaint with the top section though, the plastic cover over the top was extremely flimsy and broke within a few weeks, although this doesnt really affect the grill that much since the primary use is just to cook meat. The grill also comes with a handy recipe book and a couple of fat-drip ... Read review

Don't loaf around the kitchen.
Review of Breville TR39 by runetune

Advantages: Not just a toasted sandwich maker
Disadvantages: Can take a little while to cool down

...decided to go for the Breville TR39 Sandwich press. ~ The Difference between a sandwich press and toaster ~ Well basically it all comes down to the hinges. A sandwich toaster has fixed hinges and allows you to use regular bread, which it then turns into a toasted sandwich using either one or two compartments. It also means your not as restricted in the slice of bread in overall size (often our old machine wouldn't take more than a small loaf slice). ...
...hinges that allow for thicker bread like ciabata, panini and focaccia. Great if like us you enjoy a variation on the toasted sandwich dream. ~ The Toasted Sandwich ~ The first noticeable difference between this and the toasted sandwich maker is there are no compartments that the bread fits into. This also means you don't get the edges sealed in the same way, nor do you have the sandwich "sealed" in half. I admit I was a little concerned that the ... Read review
