Breville for toasties
Review of Breville TR30 by bettyboouk

Advantages: Great tasty sandwiches
Disadvantages: Quite difficult to clean

Overview This creats really nice, deep filled and sealed toasties that are usually sealed around the edges - the seal being nice and crispy. I think this cost £20 - we have had it for about a year and the toasties taste excellent as they did when we did the first. Asthetics White with black tefal coated plates. The machine looks very much like a sandwich toaster. It has a green and red light on the top. It doesn't take up too much room and can ...
...It is quite light to lift. Ease of use This toastie maker is so simple to use. Plug it in and the red light on top will illuminate, while it is heating up you should prepare your sandwich by buttering the bread (the buttered side needs to be on the outside of the sandwich) and then adding a filling. This makes deep filled sandwiches but don;t over fill. Once it has heated enough the red light will go out and the green will light up. Lift the lid ... Read review

Breville TR46
Review of Breville TR46 by LadyH1970

Advantages: Hot tasty snacks quickly
Disadvantages: can only make 2 at a time

...years. I recently purchased the breville and have nearly lived on them for days. This model is very easy to clean. The plates slide out for easy cleaning, although most of the time they only need a wipe as the plates are non stick. It also heats up quickly and seals the bread well. It is a great way to have a light snack, and can be healthy. The fillings can be anything that you fancy, but you can't beaat a strong cheddar. The lead could do with ... Read review

Toasty warm - toasty cold - you never know!!
Review of Breville TR48 by ladyboymondaytofriday

Advantages: makes lovely toasted sandwiches
Disadvantages: no temperature gauge - cooking is hit and miss - hard to clean - no timer

...as waffle irons - the Breville TR48 does not unfortunately - what it does is toast up to four slices of bread to make toasties and this is where I find myself muttering a cursing at the darn thing - there is no heat control or light to indicate that it has hit the optimum temperature so it is a bit hit and miss on the old cooking times. In defence of the TR48 the lack of gizmo's and dials makes it very easy to use and when things all fall into place ...
...end of the technology spectrum rather than continuing to use the Breville TR48. It's good if you are on a limited budget but I'd rather have a temperature gauge - the capacity to make waffles and a machine that isn't so difficult to clean. I wouldn't buy one again. ... Read review

These Fillings Are Great To Have
Review of Bush TS281 by belfin

Advantages: Hot food in minutes
Disadvantages: Plates could be bigger

***Background*** I have a confession to make - I love toasties. Whether it's a simple ham and cheese or a slightly more unusual version like banana, I'm addicted at lunchtime. I find that they are a lot more filling than just standard toast and because the filling heats up too, it tastes like you are having a proper cooked lunch. Our last toastie machine had been around in the house for years and had been constantly used but it was looking a bit ...
...wedding presents last year we decided to upgrade. This coincided with my daughter going off to university and she had already mentioned taking the old one with her. There aren't really a great many options out there these days for toastie machines so choice was a little bit limited but we were looking for something that would cook two sandwiches at the same time and also something that would blend in with our black/chrome accessories. ***The Machine*** ... Less fat, less mess, more taste?
Review of George Foreman GR 20 by dhillcrest

Advantages: Easy and clean
Disadvantages: Large and heavy

Yummy. Most of the time. The main thing going for this grill is how quick and easy it is to use. Gone are the days when the grill pan catches fire in a horrendous fat fire with smoke setting of the alarm. No more soaking of pans and scrubbing of burnt on cheese. This grill is umpteen times as clean and you get the added bonus of having a drip tray full of watery fat so you can look at what you would have eaten if you'd have fried it. Now to the ...
...when it reaches top temperature but no temperature control to adjust the heat setting. to be honest, this is fine - it's the sort of thing you would turn up to full power anyway - who ever cooks bacon slowly? The thermostat is important as we wanted something the teenagers could use in the morning without incinerating the house and this means it will be safely turned off when they forget to pull the plug out on the way to school. There is a bun ... Read review
