Review of Micromark MM9835 by thecatsmother

Advantages: makes great sandwiches, easy to clean, inexpensive
Disadvantages: I eat too many toasties

...was, until I spotted the Micromark sandwich toaster in a local electrical outlet for half of it’s regular price of £21. The Micromark toaster is white, rather than chrome, and has two lights on the top section. One red one to show that there is power to the toaster, and one green one which lights to show that the toasting plates have reached the correct temperature. It works on the same principle as other sandwich makers, with a lid and base hinged ...
...into both sections. The Micromark takes around 5 minutes to get to cooking temperature after switching on, allowing you ample time to prepare fillings and bread. Normal practice is to spread butter or margarine on the outside of the sandwich which is melted by the cooking plates, effectively frying the outer surfaces of the toastie while heating the filling. This works perfectly well, and is the method I adopt when cooking sweet toasties (adding ... Read review

SPEEDY SCRUMPTIOUS SANDWICHES
Review of Philips HD 2383 by allyoxley

Advantages: Quick and Easy Tasty Sandwiches
Disadvantages: Can be hard to clean if not oiled properly

I purchased the Philips HD2383 Sandwich Maker mainly for use with the children to make them hot toasted sandwiches, it was priced at £14.95 which I thought was pretty reasonable for a sandwich maker. It does also cook waffles which is a bit of a bonus. SPECIAL FEATURES Compact Elegant Metal Silver/Black Non-Stick Cut & Seal Plates Cord Storage Facility Auto-locking mechanism Cool-touch Handle On first appearances it is compact, a stylish ...
...show in the kitchen, and also makes it easy to clean down and look sparkling in a moment. It comes with a cord storage facilty, so it fits nicely in the cupboard without cords hanging all over the place and the cord storage also makes it possible to only let out as much as you need when you are using the appliance, so it fits neatly on the worktop, again without hazardous cords all over the place. The sandwich maker is non-stick, it comes with cut ... Read review

The worst purchase I have made for a long time.
Review of Bush TS281 by pete2bram

Advantages: Removable Plates
Disadvantages: Food leaks into totally uncleanable rear crevasses & around/beneath the plates. Very shallow dishes = poor filling

I purchased the Bush TS281 on line from Amazon. The appeal was the removable plates for cleaning.......WRONG !!..I not only found the dishes too small to accept a reasonable filling but when I tried to put an acceptable amount of filling into a sandwich....It leaked not only contaminating the many crevases at the rear of the machine, but ALSO leaked around beneath the lower removable plate and onto the heating element. As you can imagine this not ...
...impossible clean off the burnt on food satisfactorily...as was the contamination that had leaked over the back and 'even into the flex protecting springs'. Rather than undertaking a massive clean up which, I have no doubt, would have meant dismantling the machine, It was consigned to the bin!!!.....So £16 poorer and STILL NO SANDWICH......and a poorer device than one I had paid only £5.99p for. ... Less fat, less mess, more taste?
Review of George Foreman GR 20 by dhillcrest

Advantages: Easy and clean
Disadvantages: Large and heavy

Yummy. Most of the time. The main thing going for this grill is how quick and easy it is to use. Gone are the days when the grill pan catches fire in a horrendous fat fire with smoke setting of the alarm. No more soaking of pans and scrubbing of burnt on cheese. This grill is umpteen times as clean and you get the added bonus of having a drip tray full of watery fat so you can look at what you would have eaten if you'd have fried it. Now to the ...
...when it reaches top temperature but no temperature control to adjust the heat setting. to be honest, this is fine - it's the sort of thing you would turn up to full power anyway - who ever cooks bacon slowly? The thermostat is important as we wanted something the teenagers could use in the morning without incinerating the house and this means it will be safely turned off when they forget to pull the plug out on the way to school. There is a bun ... Read review

Does this title have to be cheesy?
Review of Kenwood SM435 Sandwich Maker by westonsi

Advantages: cheap, cooks evenly, easy to clean, looks good with unique design
Disadvantages: no timer or thermostat

...I opted for the Kenwood SM435 because it was reasonably priced and looked the business so would fit in quite nicely with our toaster, kettle and bread pot. Unlike most other toasted sandwich makers, instead of being quite flat to the work surface it looks a bit futuristic (I have attached a picture below to save trying to describe the shape which escapes me at this moment in time). I’m sure you’ll agree, it looks a bit different and with the silver ...
...than 20 quid. The SM435 has fixed hinges so opening and closing it quite straightforward, there is no trying to reposition the top section to align it with the base and the handle is insulated so it doesn’t get remotely hotter once it has been in operation for a while. There are two separate plates which both warm individually and it can make 2 sandwiches at once. More than adequate for our needs as I personally don’t eat that many toasted sandwiches ...
