Super Scanner!
Review of UMAX AstraSlim 1200SE by master-ryan

Advantages: Good looks, nice price
Disadvantages: A bit slow

The UMAX AstraSlim 1200 SE is quite a fashionable scanner, which can be brought on a budget for around £35. I decided to buy one when I found out or suddenly became aware of how useful owning a scanner is. But, as usual, I was on a budget, and gave myself the task of buying a scanner which, is not only inexpensive but also is of good quality . After looking through the catalogues, I stumbled across this scanner. The package looked good and it was ...
...A little information on the UMAX then: Speed: 6 out of 10---The scanner’s speed is quite slow, but if you are only going to use it for general things, this shouldn’t be a problem. Colour Sensitivity: 7 out of 10--- Colour sensitivity is good for the scanner; it produces some quality scans of paper with many different colours on them. Resolution: 7 out of 10--- The resolution of the scanner is of a good standard, and again it is O.K for general ... Read review

Good hardware, but use other software
Review of UMAX Astra 4000U by iharsh

Advantages: Great quality of scanning, reasonable price, tech support, MAC and PC
Disadvantages: Large dimensions, rather noisy, low productivity, week software

It is necessary to mark good parameters of an actual resolution, low level of noise on a received image, and also the exactitude of colors. Nevertheless it is necessary to mark that, despite of a little bit disappointing outcomes, the hardware of this scanner has a large potential, which can be uncovered, ... Read review

A Near Perfect Scanner
Review of Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 by anonymili

Advantages: Sooooo many features
Disadvantages: None that I can think of

We use the CanoScan Lide 25 (which I'll refer to as Lide 25 from now on) at work and a handy little scanning tool it is indeed. It's very slim and lightweight and sits nicely on my desk, ready to jump into action whenever I need to scan a document or photo. You can copy directly from the platen (glass screen) to your printer or print or even email and it's very easy to set up. AN ABUNDANCE OF FEATURES The Lide 25 uses a USB connection so ...
...handy indeed - saving on energy is always a better option. Unlike other home scanners I've used in the past the Lide 25 scans to a fairly high resolution of up to 1200 x 2400 dpi so when scanning photos you get very good quality images. The software that comes with the scanned allows you to scan documents to PDF too and you choose whether you want them in colour or monochrome or select the image quality you want from 75, 100, 200, 250, 300 or 400 ...
