Easy scanning anywhere you are
Review of Visioneer Strobe XP 100 by laramax

Advantages: Compact, easy to use, portable
Disadvantages: Can only scan single sheets

I bought my Visioneer Strobe XP 100 because it is a great little scanner for use on the move. My main PC that I use for work is a laptop with docking station and I wanted something that would easily connect with that. I needed something that would let me organise all of my documents, photos, articles, brochures, and business cards and this Visioneer gave me all of that in a very compact unit that was light and easy to carry. It will pack easily into ...
...the USB port which mean I am able to scan documents anywhere I go and I don't have to carry lots of power leads and adaptors. It is a small scanner which works by means of a roller which takes in your document through a slot on the top, passes it over the scanner, and then pushes it out through the back. Because of its method of operation it is less than 300mm wide (12") and barely 50mm deep (2") so it takes up no space at all. The downside is that ... Read review

Average Scanner
Review of BenQ Scan to Web 4300U by jahanzeb

Advantages: Fast , Very High Resolution
Disadvantages: Not original I mage

Benq 4300 Scanner is good for personal use but it is not much efficient like Other photo scanner. It can scan up to 1200x1200 dpi and its speed is also Very good but I found only one problem in it and that is it doesn’t scans the Picture originally and fade or make more brightness in the color. But it scans the image very efficiently and it can even scan a small picture Into a big picture without damaging the pixel that’s the thing I like most ... Read review

Photo, Anyone?
Review of Canon CanoScan FB630U by vickyriotgirl

Advantages: Good Quality
Disadvantages: A little on the slow side

This scanner is of a good standard, it is not the best i have ever used but it is one that can produce good pieces of work in a suitable amount of time. It may not be the fastest piece of computer related hardware on the planet, indeed not in a office place, but it is good enough for me. Its not cheap for what you get, but i would say that you are definately getting what you pay for and at a good standard. This product is ideal for home use and ... Read review

Ultimate Scanner, Cheap, Cheerful!
Review of Mustek ScanExpress 1200 UB Plus by haydox

Advantages: Cheap, USB powered, not bad software (except text recognition)
Disadvantages: Slow, Text recognition software is hopeless

I've had this scanner for ages...so long that I can't remember when I actually got it! But this does show that it is built well, as it has been moved around my house to a number of different locations, and been bashed around a bit, and still works fine! However, even though it is durable, it is slow, taking about 30 seconds on average to scan 1 page. This doesn't sound too bad, but compared to some it is very slow, but for the price you really can't ...
...is hopeless, to test it I printed off some text from Word (at about size 14), scanned it using the software and it had trouble picking that up, it came out with about 3 different sizes of text and about 3 different fonts! The speed of scan and text recognition are about the only bad things I can think of about this scanner, considering the price. The colour sensitivity is very good and when it is on SuperFine resolution, the scan quality is excellent. ... Read review

Good on Windows 98 but less good on Windows 2000.
Review of HP ScanJet 4200C by dvdlcs

Advantages: Quick (on Windows 98 at least). Good quality scans.
Disadvantages: Windows 2000 (lack of) support. No power switch.

...it (or at least a HP device) when they wanted to purchase a scanner some years before that. First thing I noticed was that the driver CD contained Windows 98 drivers only. This was fine when I initially acquired the scanner as I had a Win98 machine to attach it to and everything integrated well and it worked without any problems. Then I updated to Windows 2000. The ’98 drivers were no good so I assumed it would be a simple case of finding the Win2K ...
...Look for sj452en.exe on the HP site (en = English, different versions are available for other languages) as that contains the drivers that are required. However, at over 30 MB it is very large archive for a device driver, particularly as it contains only English language drivers. This is because there is at least one scanning application included as well – why isn’t there a file available with just the device driver? You also need to install the ... Read review
