Advantages: Copying pages out by hand and a lot faster and without RSI
Disadvantages: did not work first but when you get used to it works just fine.

I have to say that at the start of using this scanner I was disappointed. Compared to OCR on a normal flatbed scanner. BUT... After reading the instructions I found that the scanner did not scan the work correctly to start with. I found that I had to hold the scanner at 90 degree angle instead of 60 degrees that is recommended. When working you can scan directly into MS Word or to the computer's clipboard. ...is very portable fits in a laptop bag very easily. It doesn't require as power source since it takes its power from the USB. Uses USB 2.0 (40 times faster the USB1 technology) technology so it reads information very quickly but is backwards compatible with USB 1.
