Epson
Review of Epson Perfection V700 Photo by Nazuku

Advantages: Epson
Disadvantages: Epson

After using this product for a few months I have not so far come up against any reliability issues but only time will tell. I therefore would recommend the product. However, always think carefully as to whether you actually really need something before you buy it. We buy so many things nowadays that we don't really need. It's a great little device with plenty of features that I would highly recommend. This really is a wonderful piece of kit that ...

Epson Perfection.......Again
Review of Epson Perfection V750 Pro by Craigshadow12

Advantages: Excellent scan quality, Full version of SilverFast Ai
Disadvantages: Little Diffrence from V700, Film holders are a little flimsy for a pro scanner.

...as follows :- The Epson V700 Photo scanner was trageted at the high end consumer. Whereas the V750 is targeted for the more professional user. The V750 has an Anti-Reflection Optical Coating as well as CCD Glass to help reduce the ammount of reflection. These are Features that Only a professional would look for when buying this type of product and are not all needed for you casual high end consumer in my opinion. The V750 also includes a full version ...

Got the money Get this Scanner!!
Review of Epson Perfection 4870 PHOTO by leeharding

Advantages: Best Scanner on the Market today
Disadvantages: Cost Of Product

...Mac compatible The Epson Perfection 4870 Photo scanner ($450 street) is possibly the best desktop flatbed scanner ive had, rivaling even professional scanners costing thousands. It's the first Epson with firmware and hardware that incorporates the impressive Digital ICE technology developed by Applied Science Fiction (now part of Kodak) for reducing or eliminating the effects of dust, scratches, tears, and creases in both prints and film automatically. ...
...equivalent of the Applied Science Fiction Digital ROC plug-in for restoring faded print and film color and the Digital GEM plug-in, which reduces the effects of film grain patterns. I have had my scanner for 2 months it was easy to install, easy to use, and JUST plan easy. My nan would be able to set-up the scanner and work it. Good luck if you are thinking of buying one My advice is, you got the money go for it. Lee ... Read review

Extremely capable affordable scanner
Review of Epson Perfection 4990 Photo by u08mcb

Advantages: Relatively fast, Dust removal works, Quality equal to dedicated film scanners, Dmax of 4
Disadvantages: Power hungry, occasional mis-scans, only 8 35mm slides scanned at once

...comes with a variety of epson photo album software, photoshop elements 2 and silverfast 6 SE. I tried out silverfast 6 having previously used silverfast Ai 5 with my old dedicated scanner and found it to be not as easy to get an acceptable scan. Epson's own software accomplishes the scan adequately and post scanning work can be left to photoshop. Epson's software does not allow specification of film beyond positive/negative/black and white. This ...
...from kodachrome 64 (notoriously difficult to scan). Digital ICE dust and scratch removal works well on small specks and background dust, less well on larger problems like fingerprints or thicker hairs. It was certainly a godsend when scanning some of my father's 30 year old slides. Bear in mind it makes the scanning process much slower if done at high resolution. At lower resolution it does not slow the process so much. The film holders, and white ... Read review

A Near Perfect Scanner
Review of Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 by anonymili

Advantages: Sooooo many features
Disadvantages: None that I can think of

We use the CanoScan Lide 25 (which I'll refer to as Lide 25 from now on) at work and a handy little scanning tool it is indeed. It's very slim and lightweight and sits nicely on my desk, ready to jump into action whenever I need to scan a document or photo. You can copy directly from the platen (glass screen) to your printer or print or even email and it's very easy to set up. AN ABUNDANCE OF FEATURES The Lide 25 uses a USB connection so ...
...handy indeed - saving on energy is always a better option. Unlike other home scanners I've used in the past the Lide 25 scans to a fairly high resolution of up to 1200 x 2400 dpi so when scanning photos you get very good quality images. The software that comes with the scanned allows you to scan documents to PDF too and you choose whether you want them in colour or monochrome or select the image quality you want from 75, 100, 200, 250, 300 or 400 ...
