Steer Clear
Review of HP ScanJet 3200C by dippy38

Advantages: Can't remember any
Disadvantages: Far too many

...since replaced it with a hp 2115 copy/fax/printer thingy. There's good reason for this. *****Looks***** Well just look at it. It's absolutly massive. It'll have a hard time iftting into today's small and compact technology. Also the plug is definitly the biggest i've ever seen for an appliance this big. It's clunky, takes ages to squeeze into somewhere behind your desk and is just a general nuisance. The light at the front of the scanner too is ...
...it's working. Whenever the plug is in the green light is on. For no real reason I've just found this feature very annoying, but thats just me. Anyway who needs a light with this thing to tell them it's working. When it works the light goes white but it doens't matter because your next door neighbour can hear it working. *****Speed***** Compared to todays multi printer thingies this is just embarassing. Not only does the software take a long time ... Read review

Adhesive mistake
Review of HP ScanJet 4400C by alliepow

Advantages: Previews of the scanned image/document, ability to adjust image
Disadvantages: The disc no longer works and we had problems with the cable

...We have now owned the HP Scan Jet 4400c for about 3 years now and it served us well until we bought another computer. The problem occurred very stupidly and was nothing technically wrong – just adhesively wrong. The disc to install this scanner onto a computer had a paper casing which had been glued down. When we installed it into our first computer, we tucked the flap inside and unfortunately the glue stuck to the disc and ruined it. We visited ...
...and very easy to understand. HP have made this easy for those and the instructions are easy to follow which means we were able to get using it quite quickly. The software includes Precision Pro but what was good was the chance to view the document, being able to adjust it and then finally scan it again. There are various options for changing the attributes and colouring e.g. greyscale etc. You are also able to choose what kind of document you are ... Read review

Time has told
Review of HP ScanJet 5100C by Plymyphil

Advantages: Ease of use, reliability, durability
Disadvantages: Size, weight

...here to read about the HP ScanJet 5100C, not a history of your handheld garbage". Bear with me you see, this convoluted introduction is going somewhere vaguely related to the 5100C. This you see has been a scanner that has outlived the desire to upgrade. Sure, things have got smaller, thinner, great ways of side opening and even printer integration but this 5100C is still being used regularly and the results are still pleasing. Now, one thing I ...
...you have greater understanding, do explain. 'Why the need for excessively high resolutions?' They produce huge images that are impossible to manipulate and take up about five screens in size unless you reduce them. In addition the file sizes make the pargest of hard drives look like a tasty appetiser. Nope, lower resolution scanning has always been my choice and no doubt will continue to be for some time. With that in mind, how does this compare. ... Read review

A Near Perfect Scanner
Review of Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 by anonymili

Advantages: Sooooo many features
Disadvantages: None that I can think of

We use the CanoScan Lide 25 (which I'll refer to as Lide 25 from now on) at work and a handy little scanning tool it is indeed. It's very slim and lightweight and sits nicely on my desk, ready to jump into action whenever I need to scan a document or photo. You can copy directly from the platen (glass screen) to your printer or print or even email and it's very easy to set up. AN ABUNDANCE OF FEATURES The Lide 25 uses a USB connection so ...
...handy indeed - saving on energy is always a better option. Unlike other home scanners I've used in the past the Lide 25 scans to a fairly high resolution of up to 1200 x 2400 dpi so when scanning photos you get very good quality images. The software that comes with the scanned allows you to scan documents to PDF too and you choose whether you want them in colour or monochrome or select the image quality you want from 75, 100, 200, 250, 300 or 400 ...
