Review of HP ScanJet 4500C by Plymyphil

Advantages: Looks, OCR software, speed
Disadvantages: None

Thanks in advance for reading this review and like my previous hardware reviews I will try and communicate the technical specifications whilst making it readable for the average user wanting to seek advice and make a purchasing decision. I have been using this scanner fairly regularly for about six months now and feel it represents good value for money. When I purchased it from a small local computer store I paid £159.99 although it is now available ...
...convenience, check in to PC World where it is still available on the shelves at the time of writing. (December 2003.) I am more swayed in purchasing decisions by features than looks when it comes to computer hardware but this was one of those joint looks and features decisions. Let’s take a look at the individual elements that go to make up this scanner. WHAT IS IT? This is a flatbed scanner. This means it takes up a fair amount of desk space, ... Read review

Dont buy it!
Review of Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB by fsrc

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Colour sensitivity

I have bought this scanner to use in my office, and I wish I had not. It is slow and the colours it produces are useless. I wanted it to scan and copy A3 colour maps that I had produced so I could print them out and send drafts to my clients, however this machine is now collecting dust as I have gone back to my Brother A4 scanner and have to fold the maps in half and stick together later. Ordinary black pen comes out as purple, dark green pencil ...
...expect for this price? In this case absolute rubbish! I am so very disappointed in it. Does anyone make an A3 colour scanner at a reasonable price??? The only things it has going for it is that it is compact and light weight and relatively easy to use. ... Read review

UPDATED DISAPOINTMENT
Review of Mustek Be@rPaw 4800 TA Pro by miccosmo

Advantages: high speed, good resolution, underexposed and overexpsed negatives scanns quite good
Disadvantages: high noise, much artifact, scanner stops sometimes with no reason.

When I purchased mustek be@rpaw 4800Ta proII(updated version of be@rpaw 4800Ta pro) I tought I'll get reliable scanner with satisfiactory resalts. But it wasn't so. Installation is anoying and to complicated for unexpirianced users. They could make simplier manu with simple full, minimum and custom choice of installation so we don't need to confirm several times that you won't or not to install some aplication. ok,after instalation you may wont to ...
...start point)again,GRRRR I visited mustek suppor center and they haven't other answer exept only that its probably becouse of using usb1.1 .Is it so?Hm... Well When you scann image at 100 dpi and 3x5 cm size it isnt some space size that usb1.1 can't handle. And sometimes it works quite good with much, much larger files.Almost to forget about resolution you try to scann in 4800dpi don't get enything, only image similar those when you lose signal on ... Take your filthy paws off my scanner
Review of Mustek Be@rPaw 1200CU Plus by christianfilmcritic

Advantages: No extra power cable, light weight
Disadvantages: Slow, problems with Windows service pack 2

...of years ago, being the Mustek Be@rPaw 1200CU Plus scanner, and other than a couple of issues with it working on XP service pack 2; it has been a real star. ►►► The Look This is what I would definitely call a slimline flatbed scanner and at just 3.7 cm in height I would hope you would agree. The rest of the scanner is pretty much a standard size with a width of approx 28cm and a depth of just over 40cm. It is no surprise that ...
...the latest drivers from the Mustek website. A bit of a hassle but very simple to do plus they have a very straight forward set of instructions on their website as to how to do this. Other than this slight annoyance the installation is very simple as it comes with a very comprehensive instruction manual and the onscreen guide when installing is plain and simple. The scanner is designed to work wnith a PC under all Windows operating systems from 98 ... Read review

HP Scanjet 2400
Review of HP ScanJet 2400 Digital Flatbed Scanner by roneoron

Advantages: Excellent value for money. Loads of applications
Disadvantages: Install not easy with newer versions of XP

...had to resort to e-mailing hp tech support. They were brilliant, and e-mailed me yet another 'patch' to sort the problem. One would have thought that as these problems were obviously well known, then the software cd needs updating. That said , the scanner is fantastic value for money and more than satisfies my needs. I especially like the 'copy' button which scans straight to the printer. Brilliant for my wife's knitting patterns! ... Read review
