Thrice Odd
Review of Brother Odd - Dean Koontz by
scuba_angel
Advantages: its better than the second
Disadvantages: none
Apologys people but here comes another book review.
Dean Koontz is a rather prolific writer it seems that everytime I go to the supermarket unaccompanied while on my tours of the toy and book aisles one of his latests works tries to throw itself in to my basket along with the lego sets and Spongbob DVD's. On my latest trip it was this the third of the books featuring Odd Thomas which made its way in to the basket.
Odd Thomas for anyone unfamiliar ... ...a desert town which has no real distinguishing features other than the massacre at a shopping mall some time ago, and that it is Odds home town. Odd on the other hand is much stranger, well not personally but he see's ghosts, and believes that they come to him for help to pass over after whatever it is that troubles them is sorted out. But after the events described in the previous books Odd is living at an Abbey, a place where Monks and Nuns together ...

By the light of the moon
Review of By The Light Of The Moon - Dean Koontz by
embojet500
Advantages: good characters
Disadvantages: predictable story thats not too exciing
...that compared to other books by Dean Koontz, this story was not as gripping or fast paced. The characters were brilliant, and you find yourself routing for them from the very beginning.
The story centres round Dylan, and his autistic brother Shepherd, who get injected by mystery ´stuff´by a mad doctor. The doctor tells them that this ´stuff´has a different effect on different people, and that now they are injected, they will be hunted down and klled.
... ...need to get to grips with, and start to understand.
The characters are brilliant, especially Shep. His austistic traits are interseting to read about. These include spending exactly nine minutes in the shower, only eating square food, and being a human thesauras!
The story is a bit weak afte a while, as its basicly just them on the run. ...

"Dragon Tears" by Dean Koontz
Review of Dragon Tears - Dean Koontz by
zenmachado
Advantages: Great Theme and Characters
Disadvantages: Pacing and Ending are Slow and Bland
...dead end. Dragon Tears is a story of five people: all attempting to find some way of surviving the deadly harassment of a being with powers who is seeking to make them dead by dawn. It all begins as delightful Tuesday in the life of cops Harry Lyon and Connie Gulliver that starts out beautiful but turns deadly in a confrontation with a lunatic at lunch. A maniac who will only communicate by reciting Elvis Presley song titles. (Which was written perfectly) ... ...a huge thuggish homeless man with mysterious powers begins stalking Harry and Connie, warning them that they'll be dead by dawn. The thug has also appeared to Sammy Shamroe - a man who at one time was intelligent and had a promising future but wound up on the streets because of addictions and also harassing Janet Marco, who with her young son Danny and pet dog Woofer have fled to the streets because of tribulation time with an abusive spouse. Not ...

Another Oddity
Review of Forever Odd - Dean Koontz by
markd_uk
Advantages: A great read, gripping, page-turner
Disadvantages: Not as strong as some of Koontz's other novels
"Forever Odd" is the second in what has become a trilogy of novels about Odd Thomas, a 21-year-old man with supernatural talents and an ability to get himself caught up in just about every serious crime that happens in his home town of Pico Mundo.
Odd's name could be a nickname given to him by his friends and colleagues because of his unusual abilities; more likely, it's because his dysfunctional parents got it wrong when they registered his birth ... ...Either way, Odd Thomas was born with the ability to see the dead, and - using them - Odd helps Pico Mundo's Chief of Police, Wyatt Porter, to solve the town's crimes. He can also see other creatures, bodachs, that tend to act as portents of impending disaster and has the ability to use Psychic Magnetism to seek out people he's looking for; helpful when the police can't find the bad guy.
On top of all this, he was also born with an acerbic wit and ...

Dean Koontz - Icebound
Review of Icebound - Dean Koontz by
markyeadon
Advantages: Good thriller that's worth a read
Disadvantages: Not his usual horror story
I got this book from my local library as i spend quite a bit of time travelling on the train now and need something to do, and books are soooooo expensive when you read them in like two days. So whilst browsing the shelfs in the library i'm looking at the Koontz books and most of them i've read, but not this one so i get it on loan. This book was not what i was expecting and is totally different to what i know and respect Dean koontz for. I like ... ...look weak, but are not as good as Richard Laymon (if you haven't read any of his, do so you will not be disappointed!!!), however this book is totally different but not in a bad way. It is more of a thriller book than a horror, but still a damn good read and at times difficult to put down.
The basic story is that a widespread drought is causing murderous famine and there is one possible solution: giant masses of Artic ice, split from the polar pack ...
