Advantages: Fast paced and thought provoking.
Disadvantages: It's a long, long, long book...

From the outset, let me tell you two things. One, I am a Clancy fan. Two, I read quickly. My belief is that both of these are pre-requisites for reading this book. If you read slowly, you will get lost, forget what is going on, have to skip back twenty pages to find an oblique political reference... I have just re-read this book for about the 8th time - why? Well it's a great book! You definitely won't pick everything up on the first go unless you have a great deal of knowledge about both tactical infantry operations and also political happenings, as well as a fair amount of American Law. You tend to foget that in a film adapted from a book has lots of bits taken out but this book makes you think you are actually watching the film except everthing is in it..
