Nochex - No worries!
Advantages see review!
Disadvantages Not enough people know about it!
I first came across nochex by accident. I was a bit dubious at first because i had Nochex was the first ever online payment facility I assumed that this was another one of many sites that pretty much do the same.
I was pleasantly suprised. the NOCHEX account was set up with little or no fuss and I was easily able to send and accept payments. The fees were cheaper than paypal and that was a bonus, but not only that they state that they do not place chargebacks on the account. A big bone of contention for me with Paypal. Basically if there is a problem with the payment they dont accept it. Any problems with the payment from then on they deal with. What a breath of fresh air!
There was none of the sign up, verify account, add money, deduct money, ring me up at home, whats your mothers fathers aunty called blah blah blah that you have with paypal, add your debit card and that becomes one of the log in details that you needIt feels like a secure site too. This mainly due to the fact that unless someone knows the last 6 digits of your debit card they cannot access your account - unlike paypal which allows access with email address and sometimes not so secure password (you know how people pick dates of birth backwards etc!!) if someone does try to log in you will get an email stating the IP address of the person who has tried to log in to your account.
If you send money using nochex normally its free to send the money to your bank account it costs 0.25p if less than £50 and nothing if over £50. I think that is the same as paypal. Im sorry if I keep wittering on about the pros and cons versus Paypal but its because its such a well known processor its the only one I can really speak about.!Also when you do withdraw money unlike Paypal which says it will be there within 5 - 7 days and you check your bank account every day in the hope that payment has cleared, Nochex tells you exactly when you will recieve it. So if you paid money in today 22nd May it would say something like - your funds will be in your bank account by friday 25th may 2007. And sometimes it gets there before! At least then you know where you are.
Also if you have a website you can set up a facility called email money. This means that Nochex will allow you to take payments without the buyer creating an account with them. For some reason people dont like creating accounts , maybe its a safety thing? I think the maximum it will accept this way is £100 (Correct me if i'm wrong) before it will ask for an account. All you need to to access this facility is sign up as a seller. You can then use the logos on your site and one of the logos allows the email money facility. There are 3 different types of account with Nochex as stated below
Merchant AccountInstant availability of funds
No monthly fees
£1,000 max transaction value
UK & International payments
The usual type of account for a small business seller. Allows you to do the following :
Instant availability of fundsPersonal Account
(the usual Ebay type account) for low volume sellers or buyers.
II would definitely recommend using NOCHEX as an alternative from paypal. Excellent customer service and easy to use knowledge base. If you have a problem you submit a "ticket" which is answered quickly. They also have some good forums which you can get tips and get questions answered by other users.
