I have not been listening long, but what I've heard is some of the best, top quality radio stations and I can only see NPR getting bigger in the future. It is a unique service and highly original and it is for this reason that I see it growing vastly in years to come.

Advantages: Serves a vast consumer base Disadvantages: None that are worth mentioning
NPR is not a radio station, but it's programmes can be heard all over America. It's vast variety of programme choices are amazing. You can choose from any of the different states of America to listen to. NPR finds the best of the best and aims to deliver top quality radio at it’s finest.

Though it does present a professional image with it’s simplicity of colours and I think this is probably what NPR were going for when they created the web site.

Although the website isn't spectacular it serves it's purpose. It has just the information needed for you to enjoy listening. Listing all the programme details from A - Z. I don't really like the colour design of the website which is grey's, black's, red's and blue's. I think personally it could do with jazzing up a bit. Though it does present a professional image with it’s simplicity of colours and I think this is probably what NPR were going for when they created the web site.
Amongst the shows that NPR distributes there are silly things that make you laugh like, the most annoying music show hosted by Jim Nayder. The Brian Lehrer Show by Brian Lehrer. A Chef's Table by Jim Coleman. The lists go on there is so much variety almost something for everyone and as I have found out you don't have to just live in America to enjoy. As I have already mentioned NPR tries to deliver the best to Americans and listener’s worldwide.
The numerous radio stations that NPR serve is more than 750 nationwide. NPR produces and distributes more than 100 hours of original programming each week to the 50 states of America.
The great thing about this service which is especially suited for American listener's is the ability to switch from State to State.
NPR also hosts it's own shop where you can buy several items like the NPR cook book. This is where this none profit organisation manages to recuperate some of it's money. Also selling other media such as, books, CDs, the Internet and Sirius Satellite Radio.
I'm a lover of listening to the radio whilst I surf the internet I don't care if it's not local radio station. I actually prefer to listen to American and other Countries radio stations because you get to learn new things and hear new music that you might not have otherwise heard if you'd just been listening to local radio. This is a new service though and I’ve never heard of anything quite like it before.
The stations this service reaches have something for everyone from cookery to science. From music to talk you will find something you enjoy. The aim of this station are to produce, acquire and distribute programming that meets the highest standards of public service in journalism and cultural expression representing its member stations in matters of their mutual interest.
NPR states that it is an internationally acclaimed producer and distributor of non-commercial news, talk, and entertainment programming. I would definitely agree with that. NPR is a none profit membership organisation that is privately owned. I agree that the work that is done from NPR is fantastic and definitely serves a purpose for everyone.
What an amazing capacity that NPR serves. NPR is proud of it’s ethical practises and the work that it is doing. It often looks at sponsorships as a way of maintaining the site and gaining the finance to do so.
The world's first non-commercial, satellite-delivered radio network.

The website is fast, easy to navigate. Transmission quality is high, but there is incidences where traffic does interfere. Information is high and you really have to surf this site to learn all about the service that it offers. There is, as I have already mentioned a wide variety of different radio programmes that it serves.
You really have to see for yourself and make your own decision, but I would recommend you go take a look at the site.
