My baby boy developed eczema when he was about 5 months old. He didnt have it all over his body mainly on his face and on the backs of his legs where his knees bent. The doctor prescribed creams etc to moisturise the skin however nothing really touched the condition. I even visited a chinese herbalist doctor and tried all these weird herbal potions and lotions on him which did work for a short whie however it always came back. Then I began doing some research into it and discovered Oilatum which comes in various different forms for both adults and children. We bought the bath formula because we noticed that his skin got worse when bathing him and whilst it didnt get rid of the ezcema (we found that he actually grew out of the condition as he got older) it certainly stopped him from scratching and provided a soothing relief to what must have been awful for him really at such a young age. You put a small amount of the Oilatum in the bath whilst its running and it makes the water go a milky white colour. Its fragrance free so there are no over powering smells. Once out of the bath we gently patted our childs skin dry and then applied the Oilatum junior cream to the sore areas and together they did improve his condition. Every so often he does get dry patches on his skiin and so when this happens the Oilatum Bath formula comes immediately out along with the cream and this tends to re-moisturise the skin back to its normal self.
The only down sides to this, however are that if you bath your child every night then a bottle doesnt last very long and it averages at about £5 a bottle for the small size. However if it does imrpove their skin then its a price worth paying!! It also, as the other reviewer has commented, does leave a film on the bath which is quite slippery so you need to take care with your child getting in and out of the bath. I always rinsed the bath afterwards to avoid myself going flying!!!
