Pay pal is a wonderful service used by many of us who buy and sell online. This opinion is about a recent scam in which some one is using pay pal's good name to commit idnetity theft. I first learned about this in a warning posted on the ebay soapbox disscussion board in November of 2002. As of yesterday (Jan.2,2003) the warning has been repeated by ebay and other online shopping sites. From what I understand, some one is sending out email that looks identical to pay pal's. These emails have a link which requests passwords and account information. Once they get the information they clean out a person's accounts. It is typical that some jerk would try to ruin a good service like pay pal . The advice given by ebay and others is to not reveal any more information than necessary and when in doubt go directly to pay pal. I hope these crooks are caught soon. In the mean time , be careful.
