Twice in recent months Paypal have restricted my account as like many others (money in my account was frozen, no interest for me, unable to send money or withdraw) because I changed one of my email addresses. They demanded a copy of my passport, bank statement, utility bill, credit card statement and more worryingly they asked me to sign and return an affidavit giving them access to my UK account. I sent everything several times by email, fax and then snailmail and got nowhere. Only after sending a solicitors letter and demanding interest on my money did they relent. I accept security issues are vital but this is a disgrace. This is a common practice by them, you have no comeback. BEWARE.

Thanks for the warning. I was thinking of joining, but was worried at the amount of information that they wanted me to give them. Marc

I totally agree in relation to the security aspect and preventing fraud etc but without mentioning the antiPaypal sites around, you will be surprised at the poor service they offer and the bullyboy tactics they use. In particular an ex senior employee from their firm has opened up on their practices and policies which is frightening to say the least. Also, a US federal court has slammed their practices following a law suit taken by a group of users. Paypal handle $40 million PER DAY in turn over - once you see how many people/businesses have their accounts frozen temporarily or in some cases indefinitely imagine what they are making in interest from these accounts because the customers or users don't get it. I'm sorry if this sounds like a personal rant because it certainly is not, I thought I was the only person wronged or that I had merited the action by them but following some research I am but one in a very large pool, that is all. Thanks and good luck.
