I'm pretty clued up on PCs, peripherals and software & I've used PC World quite a lot. A slow, clunky site, some good bits.
Review of pcworld.com by Ecofreak

Advantages: Accessible, good opening hours, occasional sales, large-scale
Disadvantages: Expensive warranties, emphasis on fast computers, can be expensive

I'm pretty clued up on PCs, peripherals and software & I've used PC World quite a lot. This isn't because it's the cheapest or best out there, it certainly isn't, but it does what it says on the tin, you know what you're getting. PC World is a large chain, that means that, like McDonald's, you can get pretty well the same service whereve you go. Like McDonald's, you can get better stuff for less money if you're prepared to, but at 8am and you're ...
...site is fairly ugly, slow and clunky to use. The most useful feature is probably the product comparison. I haven't done online ordering. PC World's computers are fairly expensive for what you get. Also, they're more marketing-led than customer-benefit led... For example, a lot of people going to PCW will pay an extra £200 for nearly the latest fast processor and walk out with a crummy monitor and only 64MB of memory, when if they were doing the ... Review of pcworld.com by WAD1-2-3

Advantages: excellent site
Disadvantages: none!

...time. What is PCWorld.com ? “It is the Web’s trusted resource for management-level buyers and users of computer products, reaching 1.3 million unique visitors per month (Media Metrix, July 2000). The site offers quick search access to authoritative and up to date reviews of all important computer products. In addition, PCWorld.com offers the most current product pricing information, continuously updated news, a comprehensive database ...
...for work and home alike. PCWorld.com is the winner of three Maggie Awards for Best Online Publication.” That’s what the site says, and really and honestly I would say this is a fair assumption, everything about this site is really good. The décor is very good, bright and colourful but without going over the top. The site is fast and navigation is very easy. There’s plenty of things to do on this site, it’s one of them sites ... Service with a smile
Review of pcworld.com by coolchanty

Advantages: speed of delivery, service with a smile, helpful, safe and secure, soemtimes some great deals
Disadvantages: none

I have only shopped online now for two items from pc world so far. One was my speakers for my pc and the other was a printer. When I looked around for some speakers these were one of the cheapest I could find. However they cost me the same price in the shop and there is no delivery charge. So it cost me £1.50p more, which isn't breaking the bank or nothing. They charge this for however much you order. So it doesn't matter if you order one item ...
...pc world were offering this cheaper than any other companies I checked were Argos, Buy.com, scan.com so I decided to order it from them. I ordered a Lexmark Z13 and it only cost me £24.99p which is really cheap for a good make of printer I do believe. However I have noticed printers have come down in price over the last year or so anyway. I also checked which courier company they use and thank god it wasn't city link, as per previous opinion written ... Read review

Avoid P.C World
Review of pcworld.com by plod591

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Extremely poor service

Along with other members, we have also suffered a bad experience with P.C World. My sons Grandparents purchased a laptop computer for his birthday recently and not being exactly technically minded took advice from the shop staff. After only a couple of months, the laptop suffered a problem and appeared to totally crash and my son was unable to get anything onto the screen. It was taken back to the shop by his grandfather who was told that there ...
...the problem over the phone and to try that option first. They did this but were unble to resolve the problem despite being given instructions by the telephone advisor whom we all presume was a computer technician. A return visit to the shop was made and they were informed that because it was a laptop, it would have to be sent away for repair and if they left it at the shop it could take several weeks before it was returned. The other option was ... Read review

I did go to P.C world on the back of there big ads in the sunday papers which do look like very good deals. The main reason for the P.C was work with Photos and photo printing being nessasary so the need for a Digicam and photo printer where there. ...charge the deal offers did not assist. This made the deals Both very Expensive with lots of Rubbish I didn't need (Kids school,GCSE maths you know the stuff). After a lot of walking phoning, comparing ect,I give a Independent a phone He biulds the P.C from Scrach and told him what I was looking for with this Information he told me what I needed and what it would cost.
