This is a great site for finding new bands, and downloading free MP3’s. Also, if you are an unknown band who wants some promotion, this is the place to go. The idea behind it is really simple; you just type in the name of a band/group/singer you really like, then the site will come up with its own selection of unknown bands to find you a band/group/singer of a similar type who you should also like. Launched in October 1999, PeopleSound.com is a site where you can download free MP3s. Unlike a lot of other music sites, it's completely legal because all the tracks up for download are by the unsigned/unknown seeking a bit of publicity. You can find some great music here by really talented people who sometimes do make it big, granting you the satisfaction of saying "I heard them first". A few weeks ago, I signed up for one of peoplesound's free CD's. Earlier this morning, it landed on my doormat. After listening to it, it's extremely hard to see why some of the acts featured on it AREN'T signed. The 56-minute CD starts with a nigh-on 7 minute Vivaldi mix which wouldn't sound out of place on any DJ's playlist, and finishes with "The Real Mission" by The Mambo Knights, sounding like it's been plucked straight out of the soundtrack of Austin Powers. As someone who loves downloading FREE MP3’s, this site was brought to my attention by one of my friends. It has unsigned bands, and you can download MP3’s and check out their music. If you like what you are listening to then you can go ahead and order the CD. That’s why it names people sound, because it’s ordinary people. The quality of bands is mixed, they have had some excellent bands coupled with some awful bands. But, when you do hear an awful band it just makes you appreciate the better ones.
