I have to say that this is the creepiest advert that I've seen for ages. It very well suited to the non-existant Play station two which is advertises <note that the advert now has a warning, 'subject to availability', for those who havent yet realised that its impossible to get hold of a PS2>.
The idea behind the advert is nightmareish, like something out of 'Hellraiser'. A man is walking down a corridoor when he sees a woman floating in a doorway, then an arm comes out of his mouth. hmmm...interesting. Then just when you didnt think it could be any more weird- his head floats away from his bodyand joins a body that is standing on a walkway, opposite a sofa. This is the worse bit: sitting on the sofa is himself, a horrible 'Mummy' thing, a man with a duck head, and a pot with an arm in it. The duck-man then says the slogan, 'welcome to the third place'.
Shot in black and white, the advert is eerie and memorable because it is so unusual. I've only ever seen this advert late at night, this is probably due to the fact that its almost disturbing! Modern, surreal and original- it's especially eye-catching. With so few play station 2 consoles available, I dont really see the point of advertising as an overwhelming interest in the product already exists. Never the less, I think the ad works well, despite being spooky.

Before christmas a friend of mine bought a PS2 for £400 and before long was ...
