Get those Prices Dropping!

Advantages: Lots of fun, wide range of products
Disadvantages: High Postage and call charges

I first encountered Price Drop TV when we purchased our Freeview box early last year. Flicking through the channels, I noticed there were a couple of Shopping channels, namely QVC, Bid Up TV and price Drop TV. I didn't really take much notice of them - the idea of sitting there with the presenters trying to sell some obscure object really didn't appeal to me.

However, I received a phone call one day from my mum who excitedly told ...
...new mountain bike for just £1. At first I thought she was going a bit mad - after all, what company can afford to sell bikes at such a ridiculously low price? Price Drop TV - that's who!

Advantages: The odd genuine bargain, excellent production
Disadvantages: Isn't as rewarding for the buyer as the format sounds

With the roaring success of Freeview, the battle to conquer the television shopping market is well and truly up for grabs. It seems that not a month goes by without the introduction of a brand new retail station offering us "the finest bargains available". At the front of that market is Price-Drop TV, owned and produced by sit-up Ltd - the brains behind several sister stations, all of which aim to steal away with our hard earned dosh. So who are ...
...greatest deals on the planet? Good question. Shopping via the television is a relatively new format which those without satelitte or cable may not be totally accustomed to. But the chances are, if you have the technical know-how to find this review, the premise of selling a product through the TV isn't entirely lost on you. Airing between 8am and 1am, Price-Drop TV provides short snappy bargains in the format of a uniform price Dutch auction. Unlike ...

Last Buyer Sets The Price For Everyone Else.

Advantages: Everyone pays the same price, gets delivered to your door
Disadvantages: music gets annoying, P&P a little high, £1 to call.

...id got to hear about Price-drop.tv . How addicting can this channel get? Well if you’re addicted to Ebay then don’t watch this channel. You have been warned. The only reason I had to go have a look at this shopping shop was because a friend told me that they were selling a bike. The guide price was £299 and it MEGA dropped to a £1. How fantastic is that. Well I was hooked before id even looked at this home shopping channel. In the first hour id ...

Drop till you shop

Advantages: You dont have to move from your sofa to shop!!
Disadvantages: You do have to wait for it to be delivered

THE PROCUCTS This is quite a good shopping channel, they sell a variety of things these include clothing, cutlery, crockery, bedding, ornaments, toys, CD's, games and loads more. I have bought a coat for £15, a set of 6 mugs for £10 and a digital camera for £50 from Price Drop and they have all be of good quality. The coat was a winter coat with fur around the collar and cuffs, you know the type I mean, it was thick and warm, exactly as described, ...
...a half so it is lasting quite well too. The mugs are wedgewood, so good quality as described, and the camera for the price I paid was great, it has all the modern functions including zoom and video functions and included loads of software and a memory card. HOW IT WORKS Basically the presenter starts telling you about a product, eg a coat, and in the corner of the screen it will tell you how many are in stock and how much it is, as the presenter ...

...the Internet and also to price-drop.tv for Christmas shopping. Price-drop.tv is a shopping channel found on Sky digital page 636. The channel runs daily from 8am to 1am and they sell a variety of items from watches, bracelets, toys, and baby items to 18ct gold plated toasters! (Sorry but 18ct gold has no place on a toaster – far better around the neck, finger or wrist.) You can also find price-drop.tv online at www.price-drop.tv, here you can view ...

At the top left of the screen you will see a guide price, say £45 that is either the rrp or the average of prices found elsewhere. You will also see a telephone number; this number is exclusive to the item being shown. Below the guide price is the quantity of items in the price drop, this varies from five up to 150 items. Mega Drop Flop

Advantages: Can grab a bargain -
Disadvantages: Addictive, the postage, returns and customer services

I must sadly admit that when I first started watching this addictive shopping channel some 8 months ago on Sky Digital, I became rather self commited to tuning in when ever I got the chance! The friendly chatty hosts must have bedazzled me and tuned my mind into thinking that 'This was the place to shop for those great bargains'!! Like everyone else, I placed an order via the telephone with a £1 charge for the call - I then realised if I registered ...
...nothing other than the internet connection I was already using !!!! No one phoned you back to confirm your winning bid and it was one swift smooth transaction. The goods arrived somewhere between one week to two weeks, which when you consider that the least you pay for P&P is about £6.99, then it's pretty naff in my opinion. How can they charge the same postal charges for a small item like a ring and a larger item like a crystal vase !! Somethings ...

Warning - Bid Up/ Price Drop Tv does not deliver

Advantages: Appears convenient way to shop
Disadvantages: Goods don't arrive, awful customer service

Ok, I know that some people have nothing but good shopping experiences with Bid Up, but I felt I had to join Ciao to warn about the other side of the coin. I was a first time buyer for Price Drop TV (sister channel to Bid Up, exact same company) in November. I ordered a set of Brabantia pans which were being sold frequently on both channels around that time for the 'bargain' price of £38. The delivery promise was 7 days. My credit card was of course promptly charged... I waited...and waited... and waited...no delivery. ...December came and went....January came and still no delivery. I tried countless times to contact the customer services but never got past the recorded messages - every time I tried to connect to an operator I was cut off. I sent 3 separate and increasingly annoyed e-mails but no reply. Eventually in ...

Bid-up TV Price-Drop TV

Advantages: No Need to go out and get cold, wet, or hassle
Disadvantages: Can not feel the purchase, sometimes it is hard to actually guage what you are buying

Excellent value for money, Great for bargains, post is a little expensive, but do take this into account and you can not go wrong. All you pay is the price +postage and the delivery is always within the week. I have bought several things, Jewelry are excellent buys, I also bought Dinnerware, and the Hurricane lamps, Watches, rings, Gold chain and Gold bracelet, even the cuddly toys for my grandchildren and a romote car. Great fun, but beware you bargain hunters who can not pass a bargain up as it can become adictive. Remember that a bargain is only a bargain if you realy need it... On that note I will still be watching it on TV between commercials, just to see if I can get my Christmas Prezzies early at a good price. ...

shopping without the hassle

Advantages: Saves trudging around hte busy shops
Disadvantages: unable to test/handle product

Bid up tv and its sister channels, price-drop tv and speed auction, which are all part of 'sit-up channels'. They are shopping channels which are easy to view and easier to order from. **WHERE IS IT?** Bid-up tv is found on freeview channel 23, Virgin channel 745 and Sky channel 644. **WHAT IS IT?** It is a shopping channel which sells everything from Kitchen essentials, like pots and pans, plates, crockery, to electrical equipment, like television, DVD recorders and much, much more, at a very low price. Each lot is sold in quantities, depending on what is in stock. It is aired for as long as it takes for the quantity to sell. Who ever buys will always pay the final lowest price when the product sells out. ** THE SHOW** Firstly, there are different presenters working through out the day and into the small hours ...
