Estimated hours of study as a speech and language student
Hi, I have read your blogs and you often mention the heavy work load. Would 50 hours a week be a likely estimate of the time needed. ( This is the general amount of time based on a full time degree for a student in New Zealand). I have mentioned this figure to several people studying various degrees from BA's to Law and all say that it is on the high side. Your views would be very helpful. Thanks Sarah
Hi, on my course at newcastle-upon-tyne,it varies depending on the semester and the stage of the course, the contact time in lectures is much higher in 1st year - maybe around 22 hours per week, but then there's lots of self-study on top of that, our course suggested every hour in lectures should be an hour of self-study. Although I am always busy I'm not sure that ratio is correct. I hope this helps, Julie
