What would you recommend to not forget when moving to China?
Soon I am moving to Hangzhou, China for a year to teach English. This will be my first time living abroad and as its a completely different culture, I can imagine there are a lot of things I can't purchase that I am used to. Is there anything you would recommend that I definitely take because I would struggle to find that it in China?
Take a good sense of humour, an open mind and a big supply of patience. You will need all three. But if you mean practical 'stuff' to take, I'd recommend getting a kindle registered to a UK address so you can download English books whenever you want to, and if you're anything like me, a good supply of Marmite and salt & vinegar crisps as well as a good supply of any medication that you need or might need (it may not be easy to find or explain).

Hey, first of all congrats u r moving to a superb country. You would definitely find many things hard to find, it also depends in which city u live in. you should be taking vanilla, sore throat lozenges ,if u are cooking urself then u must take some pre packed spices. Deodorant this is very important. your regular medicines in good quantity. Good sturdy shoes for standing in much of the day since good arch support is hard to find in China.
If you are a coffee lover take a cafetiere and several bags of fresh coffee. Its really difficult to buy it in China, you have to go to somewhere like Starbucks which sells both cafetieres and fresh coffee, but at a price. A cup of coffee in China at Starbucks is expensive in local terms, as expensive as lunch at a local restaurant, Chinese coffee is usually not good either!
