It helps in oh so many ways!!! Firstly, to get a personal sevice from the site you will need to register with them which is a painless experience.
Once registered, you really can make the most of the site. You can use their search facility to find your ideal post-graduate job. Jobs/careers are categorised which makes it all the more easier. However you can even get this bit done for you!! On one of the pages you can simply click on the types of jobs you are interested in, and Prospects will email you when a vacancy in your preferred category crops up.
There is also the opportunity to put your CV up online. Simply click on the tab labelled 'My Prospects' and here you get the opportunity to fill in various sections that will help to form your CV. For instance, from personal details such as address et al, to the usual such as work experience, qualifications, etc. However, if you want to take full advantage of the CV service and if you want to sell yourself to the full, then I advise you put at least three hours aside for this task. Each section takes quite a while to complete and there are many sections, but it is really worth doing. Once complete, your CV is stored on the site for employers to browse through when a vacnacy in their company arises.
Also, whenever you log in to the site you can see how many times an employer has looked at your CV.
If you are a student or a post-graduate looking for work, I suggest that you visit this site and take advantage of it's fantastic help and facilities. You never know when you might need it!!
Advantages: Free, easy to use, and you may get a job out of it Disadvantages: Sometimes you get deluged with too much info
The Prospects Today website (www.prospects.csu.ac.uk) is a great place for finding jobs if you have, or are just about to graduate from university. You can either pick up the Prospects Today magazine at your uni library (free of charge). It comes out once a week during the end of term and summer, and twice a week during the beginning of term and winter. Or you can visit the website, which has the same jobs, but in an easier to find search pattern.
... ...to employ graduates, often on graduate or fast-track schemes. And the pay is better than working at the local petrol station (although you may find a job for area manager of a chain of petrol stations!!)
Even if you are a graduate but not yet seriously looking for employment, it's good to get a feel of what companies you can apply to one day, and find out what kind of salary is generally offered.
You can even sign up on an emailing list, which ...

Introduction
This website is a blessing for anyone who has no idea what they want to do career-wise. Written and maintained by careers professionals, and having closes links with the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS), it is mostly intended for those recently graduated or close to graduation. However, the wealth of information available makes it a useful tool and resource for virtually anyone seeking a new career or career ... ...the most useful part of the site is the "Explore types of Jobs" section. Here you will find an A to Z of job titles, covering pretty much anything you could ever think of doing for a living. You can also search by job sector eg Finance, Media, PR & Advertising. Once you click on a job title, you will be taken through to a profie which covers job description and activities, salary and conditions, entry requirements, training, career development, typical ...

If you're looking for a graduate job, whether you've already graduated or you're still studying, then prospects is a great place to look. If you visit your careers centre at your university you'll probably find the prospects handbook is available there. This is an excellent guide, full of tips about finding a job once you graduate, and an extensive list of companies who recruit graduates, what kind of jobs they offer, contact details and deadlines ... ...much the same information on it, as well as an up to date database of graduate positions currently recruiting. This list gets updated regularly, there's a huge range of career opportunities on there, it saves all that trawling around trying to find jobs because they are all in one place.
I used prospects when I was looking for a graduate job, initially I got the Prospects handbook because I planned to apply for jobs during my final year. My work ...

Advantages: easy to use, good source of info and advice, lots of jobs Disadvantages: could be more info for undergraduates
I recently came across this site in my search for help finding a career afetr I finish my degree next year. It is a very helpful site which is linked to my universities web site. It has many different facilities, these include:
- a quick search for your perfect job
- info on the career of your choice (how to get into it, sites etc)
- work expereince info (how to get it, why etc)
- job listings which you can search or have e-mailed to you when ... ...if there needed etc)
- general source of info on cvs, applications and interviews
All in all it is a very helpful site that had provided me a with a lot of info and advice. You have to register your details to use it but this is simple and then log in to take advantage of all areas of the site. I can imagine this site will be especially useful next year when I am searching for a job.

Advantages: Amazing amount of vacanices, good career advice, Fab email service Disadvantages: sometimes too many emails, and a CV database that employers don't seem to search through.
've never used this.
The career advice is helpful, especially for graduates, who may not have a great idea of what to put on a CV or where to get started. The thing that really sets this site apart is the amount of graduate vacancies.
As it is specifically targetted at graduates and finalists, many companies advertise in this (sometimes solely in this). This led to a whole range of industries and a large chance of eligibility. I remember I always got frustrated looking through the Guardian, finding only one or two vacancies a week at entry level.
There is also a email service where Prospects will email you vacanices that match your requirements. Of course other sites like Reed.co.uk, also offer this service, but as there are more graduate vacancies, you have more chance of getting a suitable vacancy sent through to you. Also something ...
