Advantages Quick, Easy and Efficient
Disadvantages none yet!
This is one website that I have used many times over the years and have never had any problems, which is why I use it time and time again to book my train tickets. For this reason I thought I would tell others about it and save them the hassle of doing what I use to do and going in to the local ticket office and holding up the que whilst waiting for the conductor to find the cheapest journey just for the computer to crash or the machine to run out of paper!
THE WEBSITE (http://www.qjump.co.uk/)STATION LOOKUP
There is a very handy feature that you can go on to from the home page. If you dont know which train station is nearest for example the attraction you want to visit then you can just lookup the attraction and it will tell you which station to get the train to. For example if you type in Alton Towers it will tell you Stafford is the nearest station. I have never had any security issues with the website either.
BOOKING A TICKET
Once you have found the journey you want to make from the timetable lookup you then just need to fill in the details of the passenger E.g. how many people and if you have any discount rail cards. You can also ask to avoid certain stations or go via a specific station. This is a very handy feature if you want to meet a friend on the train who has boarded a few stations before you.
The next screen that will load will be where you choose specifically which train you want to get and displaying all the different types of tickets available for that journey. If you have asked for a return ticket, I always find it much cheaper to get two singles. You can change your ticket type to two singles on this screen, qjump will suggest that its cheaper and just click on that link. You can then mix and match your outgoing and home journey to get the best deal. For example on my last trip I made, the cheapest return ticket was about £80. I then looked at two singles and got a ticket for £42.
Once you have chosen your tickets you can go ahead and pay for your ticket. You can choose seats facing a specific direction, or leave it to them, which is what I always do.
