QXL I like. I've used several auction sites, and although Ebay is my favourite (they've got a wider choice), QXL is a close second. The various categories are clearly, and logically set out, and notice is given of any particularly "hot" deals...although once labelled as such they usually lose their bargain status. I signed up, (got a £1 piece of software into the bargain), and had successfully bid for an item within the hour. It's that easy. I DID have a problem though over the last Bank Holiday period....I was a successful bidder for an item, but when the auction finished, I had an email from QXL saying my bid had not met the reserve price. (In fact my bid was well over the reserve price). The seller meanwhile was told nobody had bid for the item. He was confused because his computer screen was displaying my bid! To cut a long story short I lost the goods, and the seller re-auctioned...and this time I was outbid. Apparently at particularly busy times (like Bank Holidays) this has happened to others. ("The amount of traffic confuses the system", I was told by a QXL operator). But it must be said that this experience is not typical. Generally QXL performs excellently, and without problem. It's costing me a fortune!

Advantages: You can set a limit, and your safe in the knowledge, you won't pay any more! Disadvantages: It is not often that you get such a bagain as I did.
