I was originally lured to QXL by the offer of a free computer game for all members who registered. I therefore registered and sure enough I got my computer game several weeks later. I am not really into computer games so I then went and placed my first auction for the computer game I had just received - I had nothing to lose!!
It was very simple to place the auction and within a couple of minutes it was up and running. I eventually sold the freebie for about £10 so I was a happy bunny. As you do not get charged until you have run your account upto £5 I placed a few more auctions without problems. However, I am now a little more conscious of the fact that QXL charge quite heavily compared to some such as Freeserve or even better, Yahoo! You get charged a listing fee which is approximately 30p depending upon your product and then a commission fee which is at least 5% of the closing price. This can make it expensive to buy products so do not expect too many bargains as many sellers can find better deals elsewhere.
However, if do want to use the site then that is your decision. The navigation is good and the content is updated regularly. There is also a lot of traffic using the site so you will probably sell your goods if you are asking the right price. It is also worth signing up if you want an easy freebie but do check out Yahoo! and Freeserve first!!
