Currently looking for a new job I gained a lot of experience with online job sites. Therefore I would like to give you some details about www.reed.co.uk in this opinion.
How to use the site? The most easiest way to work with reed is to subscribe to the service, means you choose a username and a password and simply login each time to enter the page. Like this you can upload your CV and even save a covering letter which simplifies each application you want to send out. The subscription process is very simple and straight forward.
So, what kind of jobs are offered on this page?Accountancy & Banking
Admin, Secretarial & Customer Service
Catering & Hospitality
Education
Engineering, Property & Construction
Graduates
Health & Social Care
HR & Training
Insurance & Financial Services
IT & Comms
Legal
Marketing & PR

Temporary Opportunities
Job search – how can you select and search?
Simply use the job search to search more detailed. You can choose the sector as given above, you can specify the area where you want to work, you can give a salary range and you can additionally give a keyword to search for. You also can limit the search on the kind of contract you are looking for, so you can choose all kind of jobs, only permanent, contract, part-time or temporal.I would then suppose, that you save your search, so you simply run the saved search the next time you enter the page. You can also save several searches – for example with different salary ranges or different sectors.
So, you found a job or even several you want to apply for?The easiest is to put them all on your personal short list by clicking the appropriate button. When you finished your search, you return to your shortlist, select the jobs you saved there and you really want to apply for (you can re-read them at this stage) or alternatively delete the others and press the “apply-button”. You are then asked if you want to use the saved CV and covering letter or still want to change it – and then your application is sent out. Some jobs are directly handled by the Reed agency and are forwarded to the appropriate consultant. Others are sent to the companies or (more frequently) agencies that adverted the job. You receive an email confirmation for which jobs you applied.
My experiences? The site is updated very regularly, so you’ll find new offers really each day. If jobs are handled directly by Reed (which appears to be the minority for me), I usually receive a note if my details are forwarded or not in a relatively short term (ca. 2 weeks). If it is handled by other agencies, it depends on their attitude. I don’t always receive a feedback, but I have this problem with all job pages and agencies. And there seem to be a lot of people using the page, so that response to each advert is very high and you have a strong competition. However, there is such a big offer of opportunities and the application process is so simple . and fast, that I will continue using the page and hopefully find a job soon. There are also career tools and information links to help you.
Try it out and have good luck!P.S. Sorry if my English isn’t perfect. I come from Germany and still need to improve!
