I recently left my job in Accountancy after 20 years, to go self employed and work from home, mainly to be able to work around bringing up my young daughter. I already had a small office, having converted our garage a couple of years ago, but it was somewhat untidy. Handy storage was a necessity and urgently required! I needed something that was going to hold a lot of files, but not cost a huge amount of money as starting out in business can be very expensive and funds are limited!

The RKive System File Storage Module (to give it its full title!) is a handy cardboard box type storage that holds several files at once and they can be stacked 3 high as well. You can buy them individually or in packs and they are self assembly.

The File Storage Module is made from a thick cardboard and self assembly is very simple. A picture of it has been added to this review. The instructions are on the back of the storage, and very easy to follow. It is a simple matter of folding some cardboard flaps into the box, then inserting the dividers and folding more flaps in for extra sturdiness. The cardboard is very thick and has corrugated edges to make the bending and folding easier. We had 3 put together in minutes and stacked on top of each other. 3 high is the maximum recommended by Fellowes the manufacturer, although I daresay that you could stack more on top of each other as long as the files in them weren't too heavy. We couldn't put this to the test as our celing would not allow more than 3 on top of the cupboard anyway!

Each module will hold either 6 Lever Arch Files, or 12 Ring Binder files. We have found the product to be very sturdy, robust and very useful as I now have 18 files stacked where once there were only 6. Metal clips are provided to clip the units together for extra safety. They fit both A4 and Foolscap files with plenty of space above and space at the side so that you are not squeezing the files in and out.

The product is a mottled grey/white in colour and has 5 dividers, giving 6 sections in which to put your files. They also have handle holes as well, making it simple to pick up the modules and use them as boxes to carry your files, so dual purpose if you want to take them to your accountant.

RKive products are made by Fellowes and come from a wide range of office items. The units can be purchased individually from stationery sites such as Staples and Viking for around £16 each. We purchased a pack of 5 from Amazon for £33, so an absolute bargain there. I would recommend buying them that way as they would be expensive otherwise. You save £15 and get 2 more boxes so in my opinion its a no-brainer! You can then sell the ones you don't want or give them away!

Well, I would highly recommend this product. It has trebled my storage space for files, it is sturdy and secure and has made my office tidier and my life easier! Simple to put together and very easy to use. If you are cramped for space and have a lot of paperwork and cannot afford more furniture, or cannot fit any more in, then this storage system will be invaluable. The only disadvantage I can think of is wondering how long the cardboard will remain sturdy, but only time will tell!
