I would like to tell you about something that is very close to my heart, my local RSPCA. For almost 8 years (since I moved to England) I volunteered at my local branch, so I'd love to tell you what... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Won't help over the phone

I don't know how many of the Ciao members have read my review from yesterday regarding Ruby, the stray we found at the weekend. I found Ruby and although she's recently had surgery, she's in a poor way, she's skinny, you can feel the bones through her skin. She's got fleas and as we discovered this morning, she has worms too, she's the sweetest little girl ever and she's settled with us now whilst we try to locate her owner. Anyhow, I found Ruby outside our house and brought her in, she has in a bad way, she was obviously so hungry she'd become unsteady on her feer, after a few rather large ... more

It has always been beyond my comprehension how anyone can cause suffering to an animal, and yet every day we hear of terrible instances of cruelty both here and abroad. It is simply not good enough to shake your head in sympathy and say that there is nothing that you can do about it. There is an organisation that cares enough to work unceasingly in the interests of helpless animals and it needs your help. Formed in 1824 and originally called the SPCA; this was the world’s first ever anti-cruelty society. It was formed by Richard Martin and William Wilberforce five years before the ... more

I would like to tell you about something that is very close to my heart, my local RSPCA. For almost 8 years (since I moved to England) I volunteered at my local branch, so I'd love to tell you what I do and how you can help as well. I love all animals, but dogs in particular. Because of our working hours we can't have a dog at home (wouldn't be fair on the poor sod) so I called my local branch a few years ago and asked them how I could help. I just wanted to get involved with animals. They told me, that the best way to start would be to come and walk the dogs. They have dog walking every ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages where do I start????

The episode that is the nub of this review actually happened a number of months ago but I have just been channel hopping and heard Rolf saying how good the RSPCA is and how they are obligated to help each and every animal in distress. POPPYCOCK, is what I say to that. My husband and I came across a very underweight black labrador, that was obviously ill and needed medical attention. We were in the carpark of a KFC at the time and he was scrounging in bins and through litter just to get some food. I cannot overstate how underweight this dog was. I have never before seen a dog so emaciated. Even ... more

Advantages Advantages The animals are well looked after-everything possible done to maximise comfort

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not enough time in the day

It will soon have been a year and a half since i did my two weeks Work Experience at Bradford centre. But now having come across this site I thought I would try and give you an 'inside view' as to what goes on. A few days before I actually started I went to go and sign some forms and to receive the health & safety talk and also given a tour of all the different departments. Therefore once I went to start a few days later I could go straight into it. My first day I was in the cattery, the morning jobs were to clean out their inside pens. This had a set structure which was: -take everything out ... more

the people that have the rspca uniform going door to door work for an agency not the rspca

i want to know about the agencies collecting for the rspca, recently going door to door,, they said all the money goes to the charity, but it cant do, because the agency must take a cut of it, is it not much better to contact the rspca direct than sign up with these people, thanks
