Advantages: range, price, next day delivery, quality, service Disadvantages: can't physically see and prod the items before purchase
...subject of this opinion.
Screwfix.com has everything from a diddle-eyed-Joe to a damned-if-I-know. Screws, fixings, bolts, drills, nails, storage, sealants and adhesives, paints, screwdriver bits, blades, building accessories, abrasives, door furniture, security, lighting, electrical, ventilation, plumbing, safety, hand tools, automotive, power tools, janitorial and big stuff. They simply have far too many products for me to provide a full list ... ...nobody does. You can even buy vouchers for that DIY crazed husband or boyfriend (or wife or girlfriend, didn't want to leave you out ladies)!
The web site design is excellent - products are easy to find, all products have an image associated with them and the prices are inclusive of VAT (something which often catches me out at these trade places). As you might expect, all products have a unique code - printed in the catalogue and displayed on the ...

Advantages: So many products Disadvantages: None so far
Screwfix first started way back in 1979 when it started as just a small woodscrew supply firm. At the time this was situated on the Pen Mill trading estate in Yeovil.Somerset. The company was then belonged to a gentleman called Colin Brewer. Two years later the company was sold to John and Jenny Goddard –Watts. In 1992 the first ever catalogue with the business name of Screwfix Direct first appeared locally. Although still on the same trading estate ... ...rolling in at a great rate and the turnover rocketing, they then expanded too much larger premises on the Houndstone Business Park in Yeovil. In 1999 a new call center was built and the company was bought by B&Q for an undisclosed amount but at the time was described as a multi-million pound deal.
I have had the pleasure to see this tiny company with a handful of staff turn into a magnificent company. I live close to Yeovil and have many friends ...

Advantages: I can choose what I want without looking stupid or girlie!!! Disadvantages: they keep sending me another catalogue
One of the problems i have found with living in 'the house that Jack built'has been the lack of funds to carry out all the work that needs doing. I have tried to prioritise the jobs in order - you know, starting with Dangerous, through Desperate, Irritating and just 'Bloody annoying.
Sometimes, though its just so funny or maybe its easier to laugh.
I have thought over the past two years that b&Q might adopt me, or at the very least make me a shareholder. ... ...the thousands of pounds they have had from me - so I have moved to Screwfix or rather www.screwfix.com - don't think they want to adopt me either, but they are very quick at sending me stuff to ease the problems and they are good quality, good value items.
Take the kitchen mixer tap (I really wish somone had) - it looked good but that was about it really, occasionally water came out of it, if you wiggled it about a bit and stood on one leg!!
Kitchen ...

Advantages: excellent prices and quality, good website, wide range of products Disadvantages: none so far
Screwfix is one of the best sites for getting not only DIY tools and accessories but also offering a wide and comprehensive range of professional and heavy-duty tools open to the trade and the public. I discovered the site through Internet research. I was looking to buy few bits and pieces essential for redecorating my new house.
I had a quick look and saw immediately the extensive list of products they were selling and thought I would never get ... ...But I was wrong.
After giving a more thorough look, the site had everything I was looking for and at very good prices too. I took time browsing and slowly made my way to the shopping basket. I reviewed all the items I chose and was quite happy with the selection. The first order cost just over £60 and was comprising of:
-Brass Victorian Electrical sockets (various types) for a total of £32, a pack of three quality brushes at £4.99,
-1700 gold ...

Advantages: fast delivery, cheap prices Disadvantages: none
I have been using screwfix for a couple of months now and apart from once when they were temporarily out of stock of a work bench i wanted have found them to be cheap and very fast at delivering.
You can visit them on the web at www.screwfix.com or ring them up and get sent a catalogue which you can browse at your leisure.
The freephone number is 0500 41 41 41 or you can write for a catalogue to screwfix direct,FREEPOST,Yeovil BA22 8BF.
The list ... ...list is endless and the prices I would estimate are approximately 30 percent cheaper than your local DIY store including delivery.
If you order over £45 worth of goods delivery is free under this figure you are charged £4.95.Delivery in most cases is next day and i have found them true to their word.If you really are in a hurry for your goods you can specify their fastest delivery which will deliver to you before 10 am next day for £9 i guess this ...
