Beach paradise undiscovered by Brits
Advantages: Clean, Feels exclusive, Very affordable
Disadvantages: Pharoah's Revenge still found me!
...El Gouna has it's own website (www.elgouna.com), and I cannot introduce this Egyptian resort as succinctly as they do themselves:
"A self-contained town on the beautiful Red Sea coast, El Gouna offers an unrivaled lifestyle. Built on 10 km of beach, the town of 10,000 residents spreads across islands and lagoons. Boasting a superb infrastructure and excellent services, the destination is a short flight from Europe. At El Gouna sandy beaches and the ideal temperatures welcome visitors all year round. "
What I can give you is a recent (August 08), British spin on the resort. This is not a resort frequented by Brits, so I hope you find my write up useful and honest. Personally, I loved the place. But keep it quiet, it's mostly visited by europeans and I rarely heard an English accent, which was great :)

And not a pyramid in sight...
Advantages: a quiet, stylish and peaceful hotel
Disadvantages: a bit to quiet at night
...to be looking at Sharm El Sheik in the southern tip of Sinai. If you are interested in water sports then Dahab further down the coast may be a better destination. If however you are happy with a quieter life but like being in a prime location to venture into the surrounding countries as well as Egypt itself, then Taba Heights will fit the bill and the Three Corners is as good a hotel as any in the area. First Choice and Longwood seem to be the main operators in the area and due to the fact that the resort is yet to take off, there are some good deals to be had. I managed to book a 2-week holiday, for two people, all-inclusive with flight for less than £1000. The excursions available are fairly reasonably priced as well so you will not need much spending money on top of your initial payment.
Try seeing the forgotten end of Egypt...

Is Sharm El Sheikh For Me?
Advantages: Weather, Diving and Excursions
Disadvantages: Locals Can pester you to death for money and to get you into their shops
...Destination: Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt)
When and Where: Sheraton Sharm - 28th Feb 05 for 2 weeks
Hotel Rating 7 out of 10.
Advantages: large beautiful complex with its own beach and coral reef, well-equipped rooms (satellite TV, fridge, Air con) and in good order. Hotel runs a shuttle bus to main resort
Disadvantages: Need to get a Taxi to main resort (~£3 to £4 British money each way), No entertainment at night and no water sold in complex unless purchased at bar (so they can charge more)
Excursions Purchased:
·Cairo by Air - ~£185p/p (Flight to Cairo is at approximately 6am, Return flight about 6pm). Destinations - Museum, Pyramids (GIZA), Citadel, Hard Rock Café (lunch included in cost). Excellent value for money and overall brilliant day. Cairo Airport is poorly organized so expect delays.

Port El Kantaoui
Advantages: Beautiful Beaches
Disadvantages: Mainly For Couples, Hassle From Local Shopkeekers
...Port El Kantaoui is a purpose built Holiday Resort on the Northern Coast of Tunisia in North Africa. It is situated just a few kilometres North of Sousse, Tunisia's second largest City after the Capital Tunis.
It was built in 1979 with a modern 300 Yacht capacity Marina as its focal point. In recent years this Marina has become a popular mooring location for the rich and famous undertaking their Mediterranean Cruises and the Marina here is said to rival those long established Marinas of Nice and Marbella on the Southern Coast of Europe. It is now also Tunisia's most popular Holiday Resort.
I stayed in Port El Kantaoui between the 2nd and 9th July 2006 and found the experience to be a rather interesting one. Since it was my first visit to Tunisia I was a little unsure of what to expect and as my Holiday approached I began to hear...

Live like a Sultan!!
Advantages: central, friendly staff, close to boat for beach, large rooms
Disadvantages: didn't notice any specific childrens amenities
...As a child I loved the stories of the Arabian nights. This hotel is what I imagine a rich merchants house would have looked like. It is truly beautiful.
The Sultan Bey is set in the Downtown area of El Gouna. Close to shops and bars, but most importantly, this is where you find the jetty for the boat to the beach!
The whole resort is quite low key, so there is no noise from the local bars and it was easy to get a good nights sleep after a hard day at the beach.
Our room at the Sultan Bey was huge. Two single beds in one alcove, a large tv, coffee table and sofa in the main area, a large old fashioned wardrobe in one corner, and a large en-suite shower/ toilet.
We also had a balcony which had ample room for the two deckchairs and small table. From there we had a stunning view of the lagoon.
El Gouna has its own tv channel...

Don't pass on El Paso
Advantages: Fantastic hotel.
Disadvantages: They made me go home !!
...This review is about my holiday at the El Paso Hotel, Port Aventura, Spain in October 2008.
My holiday was booked through First Choice Holidays and for my husband, myself and our 12 year old son for a weeks half board stay with unlimited access to the park, the cost, including flights and transfers was £1200.
We all had a wonderful time, I won't go into the park details as I have already written a review on that aspect of Port Aventura - this review is purely about our stay in the hotel.
We flew into Reus airport and it only took 10 - 15 minutes to get to our hotel.
Before I go any further, let me explain about Halloween at Port Aventura.
Every October and November Port Aventura goes into Halloween mode, and boy - they don't do it by half.
If you have ever been to Disneyland at Halloween - Port Aventura do it...

Movenpick Spa Resort - Swiss Hospitality
Advantages: Clean, Tidy, lots of choice
Disadvantages: No t-shirts in the pool, beach not so good
...This hotel is very clean and tidy and very professionally run. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble for any of them. They all made an effort to speak with the children and made us all feel welcome.
Although the hotel was fully booked we never really felt as though we were packed in. The hotel and it's grounds are very spacious.
There are numerous restaurants on site all with a very good choice and high standard of food. There is regular entertainment too at various bars on site.
There are serval pools too, one is a noisy pool where children can play volleyball and generally make a noise and there is another that is a quiet pool where children are encouraged to been seen and not heard. One thing though, children (or anyone for that matter) are not allowed to wear a t-shirt in the pool. So...

Truley Amazing and beautiful!
Advantages: Everything, staff, ammenities, bars, restaraunts, service, pools, cleanliness
Disadvantages: there are none other than expense!
...!
The hotel has it's own spa aswell, which I visited. And was very satisfied with the treatment I recieved, and the cost was pretty good aswell.
The hotel is reasonably close to the 'Downtown' area, and there is a bus which comes to the hotel lobby every 15 minutes that goes to the downtown. The lobby can also book 'Limosines' (Taxi's) or Tok Tok's at your request
The rooms are amazing; larfge and clean with great facilities!
I cannot say anything bad about this hotel or my experience. I am going back next year, that's how much I enjoyed it!
I would recommend anyone to go!...

Emperador Hotel - El Arenal - Majorca
Advantages: Not too busy
Disadvantages: Noisy,
...For a cheap holiday (£175 per person to be exact, excluding transfers) I wasn't expecting a lot from our 2* Bed & Breakfast accommodation.
The following description is that given by Trip Advisor on the Emperador Hotel in Majorca.
"The Hotel Emperador is an excellent holiday option for those looking for simple and comfortable accommodation in a popular, lively resort at a very reasonable price. The Emperador is situated in a quieter area only 400m from the center of the resort and only 500m from the lovely, long, sandy stretch of beach, which stretches along the coastline. The hotel has twin rooms with bathroom and terrace. There is a pool with sun terraces and sun beds and a bar for those essential cooling drinks! You may choose to have B&B with the continental style breakfast, or half board may be taken in the neighboring sister...

Charm-El-Sheik!
Advantages: Snorkelling, the red sea, food, price, heat.
Disadvantages: The runs!
...of people say it's a nightmare but we had no real trouble. On arrival it's very small but I'd say it was very basic. Be aware of the guy by the baggage trolley - he expects 2 pounds for one! Also there will be guys waiting outside your coach and will expect a tip for putting it on so do It yourself! One guy just walked on our coach and did nothing but ask for a tip! On the way back it's very hustle and bustle and you HAVE to watch them screens as there is no one around to help you there.
How long does it take to get to Sharm El Sheik?
It takes five hours to get there! It's a long old trip so make sure you bring a good book!
Do I need a visa?
If you are not leaving Sharm El Sheik no you don't! If you know for certain you are not leaving don't buy it and don't get pulled into buying it either. When leaving the airport simply go straight...
