Advantages: Good location and service Disadvantages: NA
...I stayed in this hotel on my first visit to Munich in Easter. I travelled down to Munich from Berlin by train with a friend. The hotel is centrally located and it only took us ten minutes walk to get to there.
The reception/lobby is not a huge place but has all you need. They have a big shelves with lots of maps/guides. The lady at the desk was friendly. After checking us in, she even helped us with our last minute booking on a day trip.
As with many of the European hotel I've been to, there is only one very small lift which can only fit in about 2 persons, provided both are small. Fortunately, both of us are quite small and we had small suitcases, we could both go up at the same time.
The room is nicely decorated and it's equipped with all the facilities such as hair dryer, coffee making facilities.
Breakfast is...
Advantages: cheap but luxurious Disadvantages: None that I can think of!!!!
...One of the best hotels Ive stayed in and Ive stayed in many. We went in december out of season and got a double room for about 30 pounds. Bargain. I was happily surprised when I openend the door and found a gorgeous room with a four poster bed. Vey elegant. The room was lovely and warm and the bathroom was very modern if a bit on the small side but who cares the shower was great. There was loads of useful brochures about munich. There was a wonderful breakfast buffet in the morning. well it was more like a three course meal, there was everything meat, fish, cheese as well as all the other breakfast usuals. The staff were proffesional and genuinely friendly and not at all arrogant. well reccomended!!!!!!...
Advantages: nice and tidy rooms, good service, yummy breakfast Disadvantages: not that easy to reach without a car
...This year in March we stayed for a weekend in the DERAG Hotel Prinzessin Elisabeth in Munich. (4 stars)
We found the hotel over the internet:

The double bed room was really nice and tidy.
Bathroom was big and clean with a bath and shower. Towles and hairdryer were provided.
We also had a little kitchen with dishes, microwave and kettle.
In front of the double bed was a little living area, with couch, two chairs and a little table.
Every room is equipped with:
high speed interent access and TV
----------------------

double: 110 Euro per night including breakfast. (big breakfast buffet)

location:
The hotel is located in walking distance (10 min) to the Deutsche Museum. Unfortuately it's not that easy to find as it is...
Advantages: Beautiful City, Great Food, Wonderful Museums, Close to Alps Disadvantages: Too Many Tourists In The Summer
...for the slopes. Garmisch is the nearest German ski resort, about 100km south, but there are far better options across the border in Austria, which are equally accessible. In summer, King Ludwig's
Castle at Neuschwannstein is a practically un-missable day-trip, if you can spare the time.
GETTING AROUND: The best means of exploring Munich can be summed up in two words: Public Transport. Munich's train-network, which is separated into U-Bahns & S-Bahns, is clean, efficient and very reasonably priced. Taxi's, as elsewhere in Germany, are also very reliable.
WHERE TO STAY: Like most cities of this size, Munich has a comprehensive array of accommodation on offer. The huge and grand Bayerischer Hof, founded in 1841, is located in the centre of the city, and is arguably one of the loveliest hotels in the world. Doubles start from 240 Euro, but rise...

Review of Munich (Germany)
Advantages: Incredibly powerful drama in places Disadvantages: Takes too long to get anywhere
...Munich is a poignant and dramatic, slow-moving Spielberg film that has at its core the effects and fallout from the 1972 Munich Olympic Games massacre. Members of the Israeli Olympic team were taken hostage and eventually killed by a group known as Black September, reported to have ties to a militant group linked to the Fatah organisation.
The film opens with some graphic scenes showing the massacre within the first five or ten minutes, before Spielberg introduces us to the squad of assassins who then plan to hunt down 11 Black September members and kill them as revenge.
It is a very suspenseful and dramatic film, with patience needed throughout. Do not expect a fast paced tense thriller, because that's not what this is about. It's a serious drama, with the suspense the main focal point, and the emotions that the squad must go...

Review of Munich (DVD)
Advantages: favourable, useful, city centre near Disadvantages: ---
...Equipment:
The Etap hotels can be compared with Mc Donald or Burger King very well. One gets off, one can be sure, what expects one and natural the other way round also, what one mustn't expect from Aix-la-Chapelle to Zwickau -- identical where.
As a Low budget hotel the Etap confines itself to the essential. The rooms dispose a basin, shower, toilet, desk, television set and alarm clock, of a big French bed, another sleep possibility for a third person in form of a bunk bed.
The Etap in Munich stands out due to the separation from shower and toilet and the available air conditioner in comparison with other Etaps.
Despite proximity to the main street many driven on the rooms are quietly and well isolated for closed window.
One has increased the offered number of TV transmitters from 7 to 16 in between so that all...
Advantages: Location - proximity to railway station Disadvantages: No Internet access in rooms, not wheelchair-friendly
...I stayed at the Hotel Excelsior in Munich on a brief overnight stay following a business trip to Munich. The hotel had been recommended by the BayernLB, who I was visiting as part of the trip, and they'd been able to get me a very favourable rate - of EUR 118 for a night including breakfast which was a considerable saving over the rack rate for the hotel. It was particularly practical as the hotel was only a couple of hundred metres from the main railway station (Munich Hbf) which made it a good choice as I could drop my bags off on my way past on the way to the bank. I cose to check in at the same time - and despite the fact that my room was not ready, they were fine about this and had my luggage taken to my room as soon as it did become ready.
The hotel foyer was relatively small, with only a couple of reception desks, but these...
Advantages: extensive database of hotels, many quite inexpensive Disadvantages: if a hotel cheats you, they will apologize, but do nothing.
...Booking.com: Colluding with Corrupt Hotel Owners to Cheat Customers?
I am sorry to have to write this review, but I have tried for months to get Booking.com to address my complaint. I have reserved rooms using this service in the past, and have been very pleased. This, however, came to an end this summer.
I booked a room at the Travel Inn in Reykjavik, only to find, upon arrival, that my wife, son, and myself were escorted to a car with no explanation. Eventually the clerk told us that we would be driven to the "other" location. The Travel Inn has, it seems, bought space in the Pavi Guesthouse (over a mile away). I would have refused on principle, but I know the situation in Reykjavik is such that I might have had no options. We were driven there, the driver stopped along the way to encourage me to withdraw money from...

Review of Booking.com
Advantages: Thought Provoking Disadvantages: Very long
...Early in the morning of the 5th September 1972, Palestinian terrorists broke into the athlete's village at the Munich Olympics. The terrorist group known as Black September stormed the Israeli apartments, took 9 hostages, and shot two men dead. Whilst the games went on around them, the terrorists demanded the release of hundreds of prisoners from Israeli jails as well as the release of two Germans being held in Germany. Israel refused to bend to the demands and later that night the remaining hostages were all killed in a bungled rescue bid held at Munich airport.
This event happened many years before I was born, but the shock of it has meant that it has never been forgotten. I first became aware of the events of that night whilst watching the brilliant documentary, 'One Day in September' that I saw on a flight to South Africa. Other...

Review of Munich (DVD)
Advantages: one of the must-see cities in Germany Disadvantages: none really
...Last summer I was in Munich to see an art exhibition. I didn´t have any plans for the afternoon and when I saw a leaflet ´Munich Walk Tours in English´, (from May 17th to August 31st daily 10:45 am and 3:00 pm, from Sept. 1st to Oct. 31st daily 10:45, meeting point in front of the town hall entrance under the Glockenspiel on Marienplatz, 9 Euro, under 26 years 8 Euro, children under 14 with an adult free), I thought, why not? Why not find out what foreigners tell foreigners about Munich?
Still on the Marienplatz the guide, a young woman from Australia started with a survey over the history of Munich from the year it was officially founded up to today and covered 800 years in about 10 minutes. Our tour wasn´t specified as a historical tour, it was just a general introduction, but we heard more about the reign of the Royal Family...
