hotel Le Tivoli, Agadir, Morocco
Advantages: lovely clean hotel, friendly, english speaking
Disadvantages: none
...bored of the hotel meals!
We did enjoy our holiday here, and we had a fantastic room which made all of the difference, but if you arelooking for a lively hotel, there are better options in the beautiful town of Agadir....

Agadir - July 2005 / Tagadirt Hotel
Advantages: Friendly people, great weather, nice cheap food.
Disadvantages: none
...My partner & I have recently arrived back from 1 week in Agadir. Admittedly we didn't take up any of the trips to Marakesh or anywhere else as being on a one week stay we were after rest and relaxation and spending days marching around towns was not on our agenda. However, we would love to return and would consider the trips as they all seem pretty well planned (the only hint we picked up about the trips, the 1 day trip to Marakesh is a very long day - leaving resort around 6amish and returning 1amish)
For the week, we ate fantastically and particularly recommend Fouqets and Taco Loco in Agadir. Great menus, fantastic price and brilliant service. The Jazz Restaurant was also a favorite of ours for lunch. The majority of the beach side café's sport identical menu's, mainly consisting of various fish dishes, Moroccan dishes, salads...

Agadir
Advantages: Great markets and food
Disadvantages: Harrassment from locals depending on time of year you go
...I think Morocco is an acquired taste. I went to Agadir with my mum for a 2 week break (leaving from Glasgow) during the month of December. I chose to go then because I knew it would be a bit quieter.
It was my second visit to Morocco, the first having been to the north in the early 80s with my identical twin sister. As my twin and I are both red heads that caused quite a stir among the locals who would constantly ask us if we'd dyed our hair with Henna (and why we were so white!!!).
I had a bad experience on my first day down at the beach in Agadir with my mum when a really rude carpet seller just wouldn't take no for an answer. Luckilly for us a friendly local intervened. He was very decent and actually gave us lots of good advice about how to get to more remote, less touristy places.
The town of Agadir is split into 2 areas...

Agadir - Avoid
Advantages: It was warmer than England
Disadvantages: I prefer to be cold
...I have just returned for a week in Agadir and I am compelled to share by experience, where shall I start? I booked it last minute and new hotels where being built, I can deal with the noise. I dont moan about accomdation because if its clean and has a shower Im happy. (it was clean and had sort of a shower)
Well, in no particular order here are the good points:
The operation of the airport is very efficient
Now to the bad points, in no particular order:
The most dishonest people I have ever come across, let me give you some examples:
1) The number of beach salesmen selling tat, approaching you when you are asleep on the beach with your ipod on. The poke they give you scares the life out of you and leaves you unable to relax. This happened day after day after day. They dont leave until you say no at least five times...

Caribbean Village Agador- Agadir - Morocco
Advantages: Fantastic food and entertainment
Disadvantages: Fight for the sunbeds - we just didn't bother!!
...entrances to the three parts of the hotel. The beach was a little difficult to get to as there is still a lot of work to do in Agadir ( remember it suffered a huge earthquake in 1960)The hotel has its own private beach where the all inclusive drinks keep flowing down there! you get free use of canoe's, pedloe's and the catamaran. You have to learn to say no thank you and walk away from the beggars and people selling things on the beach - but the beach is well patrolled by the local police.
When it comes to food you couldn't go wrong - or hungry!!
You can eat everyday in the different restaurant or in the main in the main restaurant. There is Morrocoan restaurant Medina, Sushi, Italian, Chinese and a Pizzeria and the waiters are FANTASTIC!! The night we got there and entered the huge main restaurant we were greeted by our waiter - who...

Agadir beach
Advantages: see text
Disadvantages: see text
...Having just rambled on elsewhere about the benefits of getting cheap deals, it would be remiss of me not to alert you to the dark, hidden side. There is a human cost involved, and every year thousands of holiday makers put price before enjoyment and have to endure a year of glancing jealously at their co-workers, tanned, happy and full of tales of fun from their hols whereas all they have is regret. This is the world of the inappropriate resort and below I take a quick look at one of them, the notorious town of Agadir in Morocco. Given that we visited some ten years ago, the following criticism may seem inappropriate save for the fact the problem is metereological. (There were other problems - general untidiness, poor food, openly leering behaviour of the male population, noise and pollution, but hey, a decade of round the clock...

Tactics for Agadir!
Advantages: Beautiful weather, Fantastic Wine, Fun
Disadvantages: Overtly pushy shopkeepers
...that were not broken, but the hotel had a policy that no one could leave a towel on the loungers in the morning and go back to bed. Any towels left on for more that an hour with no takers in or around the pool area were taken to reception to await your collection - embarrasing enough I'm sure!
The bar staff and pool attendants were very friendly with a good level of English. Not much entertainment, but I was assured this was due to the fact it was the quiet season.
Our rep gave us a talk on the first day which explained the local etiquette, and where to go for food etc... Unlike most Rep meetings it was not used as a pressure tool for their visits, although a brief explanation was given along with a booking sheet if required.
Agadir - The town itself
Although we had been warned about the local shopkeepers bing eager, we were...

Essaouira far more enjoyable than Agadir.
Advantages: Cheap and Sunny
Disadvantages: Harasment and over charging so very comming.
...My friend and I chose to go to Morocco as it was cheap and we were poor students in need of some sun! I have to admit that we did not really do our research about where we were going, if we had I think that I would have thought twice, although this story does have a happy ending!
We started in Agadir, the hotel was okay, we had a clean and fair sized rooms overlooking the pool. I had been to Tunisia about 3 years before I had expected Morocco to be similar. So we went to find something to eat which was disappointingly in more than one way. There was no real town centre that we could find and we were looking at eating at a "Spanish" style restaurants until some locals gave us the address of the place far out of the touristy area where the food was good and it was full of locals. Really cheap, although I'm sure that we paid more that...

Agadir AgaDO
Advantages: beautiful,different,friendly,easy to get around.cheap.
Disadvantages: the water, always buy bottled and use it even for cleaning your teeth
...For the traveller that likes to experience sun, snady beaches and a different culture like myself then Agadir should be on your must visit list.
I visited in October half-term week {yes more expensive because the flight operator added a £100 supplement to the flight cost, disgraceful, but as i work in a school my holidays have to be outside term time}.
I was to stay in the all inclusive hotel Agador, part of the Caribbean Village which also shares it's grounds with two other hotels.
The complex boasted three swimming pools, several choices of restuarants and what they called the animation team.
The grounds were beautiful and very clean.
The weather was fantastic.
And the people very different.
One day the market came to the hotel and stalls were set up all around the main pool.
A fine array of wares from carvings,to marblized...

Aga-dire
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: It is horrible, bland, boring - need I go on?
...Morroco is great but never go to Agadir. Don't believe the holiday brochures which say what a wonderful beach resort it is. It is true it does have a beach, but the whole place has about as much Morrocan flavour as Skegnes.
It does however, boast a sardine canning factory and lots of 'lovely' naff hotels that try desparately to sustain a 'good place to be' image but fail miserably.
Everyone in our hotel (Hotel Kamal) couldn't wait to go home. Steer well clear - you will be bored - and not just of meatballs....
