Advantages: Great location, clean and comfortable Disadvantages: some dangerous corners in the room and no bedside table or light on my side
...Perth Travelodge, Hay Street
LOCATION:
This is a 3 star hotel in the centre of Perth with 123 rooms (some of these are inter connecting for families) within walking distance of the Swan River or the Northridge shopping area with loads of restaurants and clubs. It is on Hay Street .The reception area is small with a couple of tables and some comfortable chairs, it certainly was not luxurious but served the purpose, The staff at the desk were extremely friendly and helpful whenever we asked for advise re transport or things to do etc. The restaurant opened out from this area.
RESTAURANT:
The hotel itself has its own restaurant called ?Armada? with a bar which was partly inside and partly outside with umbrellas. It looked quite nice. Food was on a par with European prices; fish and chips (red snapper) with fresh salad was $19 Aus...
Advantages: Central location, good area, value for money, clean and comfy. Disadvantages: Occasional sagging mattresses, plus check your account carefully.
...Recently I spent four nights at the Goodearth hotelPerth Western Australia. Here's how I got on.
I booked my accommodation through hotelclub.com and can report that the website was safe and secure when processing my payment of $A428 for the four nights. At $107 per night (approx 45 pounds) it seemed good value to me.
Initially, I tried to book this hotel through a Queensland travel agent. They told me there were no rooms available for the period I wanted, and tried to cajole me into going to another inner city Perthhotel.
That was when I tried doing the booking myself on the internet, and fortunately, found accommodation at the Goodearth on the nights I wanted.
So Ciao readers should be aware that just because a travel agent states there are no rooms, it is worthwhile trying the internet instead !
On arrival at the hotel...
Advantages: Great Value, close to the CBD Disadvantages: Lacking in va va voom
...on my first visit here in 2003, so because I was a little familiar with the area thought I'd try and get somewhere close to there. I came across the Perth Ambassador on the Checkin.com.au web site and it caught my eye because it was in my price range, my hotel allowance runs to $150.00 AUD a night or 40 to 80 GBP. This must have been up rated recently as while Ciao states this is a two star hotel it's actually now three and a half stars. It's recently been brought under new management which probably explains it. It's located on Adelaide terrace which is close to everywhere basically, with the main shopping area a 10 minute walk and the banks of the beautiful Swan River just 3 minutes away on foot, and I have a view of the river from my room which is lovely.
I opted for a Corporate Room, which was on special offer, costing $120 AUD...
Advantages: Wonderful climate, no crowds, clean, very pretty Disadvantages: Not very historically interesting

Review of Perth (Australia)
Advantages: Centrally located, very clean Disadvantages: small pool
...January is probably one of the hottest months in Western Australia. This wasn't problem for me though, because my hotel room had full blast icy air conditioning on all day.
I stayed at the Duxton Hotel in the centre of Perth in January 2003 for 14 nights.
This superb 4 and 1/2 stars hotel has transformed my family visit holiday into a full blown luxury holiday.
I stayed at the Penthouse suite on the 11th floor of this block building Hotel with magnificent views on the Swan river. The room was extremely clean with two king size beds, a separate lounge with sofa, desk and table and a separate bathroowm including a huge power shower and a jacuzzi.
Services include TV, VHS, DVD, radio, tlephone, modem connection sockets, laptop docking staion, alarm clock, walk in wardrobe, iron and ironing board, safe, air conditioning, mini bar...

Review of Duxton HotelPerth
Advantages: Comfortable, small and friendly. Disadvantages: Not in the city centre if you prefer to be where the action is.
...roads from around the surrounding area.
The price for 2009 is about £80-£90 per room in March of next year although there are probably cheaper deals around and there are both Standard and Superior rooms available. As usual in Australian hotels breakfast is not included, but it is not expensive. Apparently there is also an apartment, but I haven't seen this as yet. The decor was a little dated but perfectly acceptable and the room we had was very clean. There was a fridge, tea & coffee facilities and complimentary bottled water every day.
We have had no hesitation in choosing Sullivans again for our next visit to Perth it is a lovely change from the large luxury hotels we use on the remainder of our trip....
...I just wanted to write something about Perth as there are only 2 other op's on Perth and they were from visitors so I thought that it would be nice for me to do an op since I live here. I will get the most obvious thing out of the way first
The home of the Black Watch is in Perth, which I am sure most of you will have heard about in the news recently. The Black Watch is the oldest highland regiment, begin in existence since around 1725. The Black Watch museum is housed in Balhousie castle, Hay street, Perth.
In the museum there are five rooms with Black Watch memorabilia. Now some other information about facilitieS. Admission charges - Free to all (but you can make a donation if you wish). Any large group such as school's should phone to make an appointment this can also include a guided tour. There is a small car park but it...

Review of Perth (Scotland)
Advantages: Modern and spacious, good on history and fauna Disadvantages: Some dioramas need a makeover
...If you are at a loose end in Perth Western Australia, then I recommend you take a look at the WA Museum. This is located at the Perth Cultural Centre, in James Street. It is easy to get to, being near the railway station and Northbridge area in the CBD.
FREE BUSES
It's worth noting that there are free buses that run within the city area in Perth, and they cover a loop which will drop you off at attractions like this.
This review covers my impressions of the museum when I visited it in September 2008. It isn't a big museum but that isn't necessarily a shortcoming because some of the displays were rather good in my opinion.
WHY GO ?
I realise that museums aren't really the first thing you'd think of if you were visiting Perth. Possibly you might be more inclined to hit the magnificent beaches, or bike along the miles...
Advantages: Friendly city with great transport and something for everyone from wildlife to clubbing Disadvantages: Its so far away..I want to go every weekend.
...for everyone. The raver and the rocker will find a lot to do here in Northbridge. The selection of restaurants is unique as unlike other City's Northbridge was not packed with fast food joints but packed with locally owned cafes, pizzerias, Chinese and seafood restaurants.
If your staying in a hostel in Perth, the vast majority will have numerous offers from all the bars and clubs in Northbridge, free entry, bar tabs and free drinks for every night of the week so if you want to Party it can be easily done, I should know as I partied for around 5 or 6 weeks flat out.
Sea wildlife.
The whale watching time of the year is May to October. There are numerous excursions available for whale watching, the most popular being The Swan River cruise, the details of this this cruise will be found in all hotels and hostels but your best bet would be one...

Advantages: extensive database of hotels, many quite inexpensive Disadvantages: if a hotel cheats you, they will apologize, but do nothing.
...Booking.com: Colluding with Corrupt Hotel Owners to Cheat Customers?
I am sorry to have to write this review, but I have tried for months to get Booking.com to address my complaint. I have reserved rooms using this service in the past, and have been very pleased. This, however, came to an end this summer.
I booked a room at the Travel Inn in Reykjavik, only to find, upon arrival, that my wife, son, and myself were escorted to a car with no explanation. Eventually the clerk told us that we would be driven to the "other" location. The Travel Inn has, it seems, bought space in the Pavi Guesthouse (over a mile away). I would have refused on principle, but I know the situation in Reykjavik is such that I might have had no options. We were driven there, the driver stopped along the way to encourage me to withdraw money from...
