Thomson Celebration Red Sea Magic : Fabulous Cruise

Advantages: Fantastic sights, great food, excellent service and value for money
Disadvantages: Can't think of any

...rough seas though so I'm not sure what it would be like in bad weather mind you! We explored the ship for a bit and found out that it was indeed massive. There are three restaurants, I think four or five bars, swimming pool, sundeck, cinema, reading room and internet area, gym, beauty salon, saunas, whirlpool (although it wasn't working when we were there) and a health centre for if you were ill or seasick. The excursions were reasonably priced, we paid £32 for a trip to the Pyramids and a shopping trip afterwards. We also did quad biking for £29 in the Sinai Desert and a beach day at a local hotel in Port Safaga for £16. There was also a free shuttle in Aqaba so you could go shopping for souvenirs or wander around the town. The Cairo trip was an early start but well worth it, we had a local guide for our trip to the Pyramids where we...

The whole of Egypt in a single trip!

Advantages: Customer Service, facilities, Services, Whole Of Egypt in a single visit
Disadvantages: Extra Costs and Selling, High onboard charges

...and the nearest port to Cairo to see the pyramids etc. The Captain mentioned at his Reception that here and Safaga were his least popular ports he'd ever visited and quite rightly so. They were industrial ports not really catered for cruise ships with endless containers and large container ships. So many older people were complaining because they wanted to get off and do there own thing which is pretty impossible considering one road into the desert lead into the Port. The nearest place to visit was miles away. However sometimes minibuses were available to take you to the port entrance and taxis were availble outside at which you could negotiate a price. Personally because of the distance to any amenities is miles away I didnt want to risk it. The port authorities wouldn't let people out of the port when we went which upset quite a few people...

Hurghada - The place to be!!

Advantages: friendly people, nice beach, beautiful hotel, weather
Disadvantages: hotel too out of the way, activities catered more for Germans

...I went to Hurghada in April 2006 and the weather was absolutley beautiful, although the sun is still really strong even in April. On my first day there i went exploring the hotel complex...and i didn't use any suntan lotion and i got burnt!! That was just walking about for a couple of hours. TIP Make sure you use sun lotion! I stayed outside the main town at the Coral Beach Rotana Resort which is along Safaga Road, this where a number of hotels are. Although there are a few shops at the hotel they are not that interesting and it is a mile walk to the next hotel along the strip, again the shops aren't that interesting. There are five restaurants to sample i only went in the main one as i was paying to go half board, I thourughly enjoyed the food. The restaurants were - Mermaid, Al zaeem cafe, Blue Moon, La tana Discotheque...

Review of Hurghada (Egypt)

Christmas day on Paradise Island

Advantages: The hotel had it all
Disadvantages: No snow!

...fact it looked quite baron to me, with only a handful of shops, bars and restaurants that we later found out got quite lively later on. We turned off the main Safaga road, through some gates and then along a winding road to the front of the very white and Moorish looking Sofitel hotel. Here we waited only a few minutes while our luggage was off loaded and put down in front of us, and were then told to report to check-in. We were given forms to fill in with all our details and passport numbers and then given our room numbers, we then had to wait a while so that the rep could give us a brief talk about the up and coming rep's welcome meeting planned for the next day in a small secluded part of the very impressive reception area. The desk at reception was quite long and well polished, there were three well dressed men behind the desk dealing...
