Being an Englishman in American trying to understand the tangled web of American sports and news, it is often relaxing to dash back over the Atlantic and fill my heart with good old fashioned British News and Sport.

The British satellite company SKY provide an excellent web site for ex-pats like myself, or for British citizens living at home.

Sports

Skysports has the most detailed coverage of all British sport (and many worldwide sports) that can be found on the web. Ranging from cricket, rugby, soccer, to badminton, tennis and other less popular sports the site caters for all sports fans.

Each sub category has detailed statistics, recent results, interviews, videos about the relevant sport satisfying even the most ardent fan. The site is well managed and maintained and is very easy to navigate. Recent Headlines are shown on the front page letting you see important news at a glance.

Several sports have live text coverage (Rugby, cricket, tennis and soccer) and while these are not the best live coverage on the web, they do provide a good quicl method of finding out the latest score.

There are many sites that specialize in each of the individual sports, and there are also sites such as www.yahoo.co.uk that have similar coverage of all sports, but the layout and presentation of skysports lift it above all the rest.

Skynews

While perhaps not as detailed or thorough as BBC, Skynews offers Worldwide and UK news. The stories are current and accurate. The stories are punctuated with pictures and videos where appropriate.
Like the sports site, the frontpage lists all the headlines and allows you to surf to more detailed stories.

I find it easy to keep up to dat about the happenings at home with this site and visit often.
