Advantages Fast process
Disadvantages Rip-off customer service people
We have been a subsciber to Sky for years now and decided to upgrade to the new Sky+
We went on the net to Sky.com and watched the promo-video/interactive demo. We were impressed with it and ordered it online. This is where the problem started!.......
A message said there was nothing wrong with the ordering, etc. and the VERY BEST offer was a total of £210 but they didn't take our credit/debit card and can we ring a premium rate number. We did and spoke to an 'advisor' who took the details and processed the transaction. This is all AFTER we asked about the various deals (multi-box, etc.) and were told £210 was the best we could get.
We went ahead with it all and was given a delivery date for the next week.It came and was installed and we had hours of fun pausing and rewinding the live TV. We were happy with our purchase and everything in our house was rosey...........UNTIL..............
The VERY NEXT DAY, we received a promo leaflet (junkmail!) saying if we upgrade from our normal box to the "NEW SKY+ BOX" we could have it for just..................(drum roll!) £99!!!!!!!!!!!99 f#*king pounds???????????
Sky would need to discuss this promo, implement it, PRINT THE LEAFLETS, and then mail them out!!!!!, all in a space of two days?????????This means when we DID order the upgrade, the discounted was already in place and we were just plainly RIPP-OFF by Sky.
A kind of "parting shot" to get as much money as possible. We both phoned and emailed Sky, getting an arsey responce back.Below is a small part of the email:-
"Our principal commitment is undoubtedly to our loyal existing subscribers and to providing them with the best possible quality and range of entertainment, whilst ensuring value for money in their monthly subscription charge. However, as a commercial organisation, we must also invest in ongoing promotional activities to sell our services. By attracting new subscribers (or encouraging existing customers to add more channels to their package) we will be able to invest more in programming to the benefit of all subscribers. "
This along with the rest of the email basically said, "tough shit! We ripped you off, took your money and kiss our ass if you think you're getting it back!"They said the promo leaflet we directed to NEW customers, even though it was named and addressed to US!!! How can we be new customers when we got a copy of the latest Sky mag in the same post????
After sending another email, they sent back saying send us the promo leaflet back and we'll credit your account with the £111 you paid as extra. We sent the leaflet, nothing!..... we tried emailing, it got returned and just to add insult to injury (as we decided not to pay their monthly charges while they had our money), they cut us off and somehow disabled the feactures on the box so can no longer record/pause/etc.!!!
Sky suck! They rip people off! They WONT give you your money back! And for a company that NEED your monthly subscription constantly, they dont seem to give a toss about their paying customers! It's not like they've sold us a one-off product and then gone out of business, they are well known and need good press to carry on trading! If you ARE going to buy Sky+, I DO recommend it, just make sure they dont sting you like they did us!
