I am a member of a few groups on smartgroups. It is a great way to communicate with other people about problems, life in general, jobs, advice anything really. I am on a few web design groups and it allows me to share code, assist other people who have problems with code etc and also get assistance off them. Also I suppose could be a good way to meet people if you go on any of the dating groups. I think it's really useful for sharing files and information though.
They have all kinds of groups to suit everyone. And if they don't have what you're looking for, it gives you the option to great your own group, whether it be for you favourite hobby and want to talk to people who also share that hobbie, or your favourite pop group.

Smartgroups is the smart way foward for communication without the need for individual e-mail. Being an avid F1 fan, I joined the F1 site and found that it is informative without being too intrusive. Any e-mail posted by a member automatically gets sent to other members. This means that you can read all messages from the comfort of your own in box! It also means that you need only post once. Having recently become part of the Paid4Surfing fraternity I soon realised that I needed some means of communicating with others on-line without constantly emailing people. That's where Smartgroups comes in. Having joined Ghostsurfers a Paid4Surfing mega-organisation, with 300+ Free to join ways to make money on-line I began to develop a downline of referrals.
Emailing people repeatedly lead to the realisation that some kind of centralised meeting ... ...simple quick way to start and develop your own group or just join and interact in an existing group and get access to all the goodies on offer to group members.
Smartgroups offers a simple message board where people can post information and suggestions, a library where shared files can be stored, a database for keeping track of group membership and a calendar for listing important dates and planning group activities.
